In Shang and Zhou Dynasties, Huang was the central Lord, with four directions of east, west, north and south, which turned into a square table of blue, white and Zhu Xuan, representing the four directions.
For example, in the north of the Xuan Dynasty, now we all know that the land in the northeast is black and mysterious.
Later, it evolved into four elephants: Qinglong, Baihu, Suzaku and Xuanwu Four Holy Beasts.
After the formation of the theory of five elements and the theory of stars, the four images were endowed with the attributes of five elements and produced new meanings.
Suzaku is a fire, so it will be hot in the south. When it is hot, it will make a fire, which also represents summer. So it is very hot in summer.
Basalt belongs to water, yin is cold, and extreme yin is water, which also represents winter. So it is very cold in winter.
White tiger belongs to gold, the main battle. If you attack the poor, it will be as fast as the wind, which also represents autumn. So it is windy in autumn, and everything dies in the wind.
Qinglong belongs to wood, because we have worshipped dragons since ancient times. Dragon is the spirit of heaven and earth, elegant, representing spring.
So in spring, the earth is blessed, and everything recovers and prospers.
The ancients successfully explained the causes of the four seasons in spring, summer, autumn and winter by using geomantic omen, and consolidated the worship status of dragon totem.
