Translation:

Kaifeng has been a treasure trove of geomantic omen since ancient times. Splendid palaces, the eaves of the temples rise into the sky, just like palaces in the sky. Longting Hall has everything from chatting and playing chess to drinking happily. Overlooking from the fence, Kaifeng has a panoramic view of the whole city, with green trees and red buildings, full of vitality, especially bright and magnificent. The next generation of dynasties is unknowable. Looking at the hustle and bustle in the distance, I sigh that I am old.

Bianliang, namely Bianjing, is now Kaifeng City, Henan Province. During the reign of Emperor Aizong of Jin Dynasty, Genghis Khan's army galloped across the Central Plains, and the rulers were in chaos, which made the country restless. Li Fen, who was in Bianjing, witnessed the social unrest at that time and wrote four Bianliang poems.

This poem reveals the author's deep anxiety about the dangers of national luck, and the gloomy and sad atmosphere makes people feel that something is coming.

Li Fen is a native of Taiyuan and Shanxi, with a long etymology and a bumpy life. Although he is a civilian, the influence of his ancestors' achievements and the stimulation of social unrest have made him ambitious and diligent in mechanics. Traveling to Kanto has the deepest intersection with Yuan Haowen. Both of them have special life experiences. Li Fen is a descendant of Shatuo Li Tang royal family, and Yuan Haowen is a descendant of Xianbei Wei Yuan royal family. Although the achievements of our ancestors have become a thing of the past, it is impossible to have no influence on their minds and tolerance.

He talked about military history, discussed state affairs, and planned military affairs, but the dignitaries of the current dynasty ignored him. At the age of 36, he took the imperial examination, but failed. Because of his excellent poems, he was recommended to be transferred to the National History Museum, that is, a scribe. With his talent and ambition, it is conceivable to get such a position.

And those editors who were born in the imperial examination, many people don't understand history, and even the style of historians is unclear. Therefore, Li Fen looked down on them, which of course angered the editors, especially Yuan Lei and Li Xianneng. They accused Li Fen of insulting the Chief Executive, and finally Li Fen was forced to leave the History Museum.

On this matter, Yuan Haowen and Liu Qi are very sympathetic to Li Fen. Liu Qi looked at this very deeply, pointing out that the official atmosphere was evil and thin, and officials came from high levels and even denied their old friends. Li Fen doesn't care much about being treated one by one, because his ambition is not here. At that time, the Mongolian soldiers advanced day by day, and the situation of the rulers went from bad to worse. Li Fen wrote to the court not to accept the meeting, but to look to the powerful people with military power.

At that time, Wu Xian, who was named the Duke of Hengshan, led troops to Dengzhou in southwest Henan. Li Fen wanted to help Wu Xian take care of military affairs and save the current situation, but Wu Xian had the idea of supporting troops and respecting themselves and watching the situation. In addition, Wu Xian was afraid of Li Fen's remarks because of the conflict with the leader of another military force.

Li Fen has sharp eyes and sharp words, and it is easy to expose Wu's intention in daily conversation, so Wu wants to get rid of Li Fen. After Li Fen found out, he fled to Biyang, and Wu Xian sent someone to catch Li Fen and detain him. The specific circumstances of Li Fen's death, "Jin Shi Li Fenchuan" said that he died of hunger strike; "Zhongzhou Ji" said that he was killed; Gui Qianzhi said he was killed. Li Fen was less than forty years old when he died.
