The Construction Background of guangde temple

According to the tablet in the temple, during the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty, the Duke of Ai Ji, the king of Xiang Zhu Jianshu, died. The king of Xiang took a fancy to the geomantic omen of Yunju Temple and buried Ai Fei next to the temple. Therefore, Kricketot, the host of Yunju Temple, was greatly dissatisfied and wanted to lead the crowd away. All the Buddhist temples in Xiangyang wrote letters condemning Xiang Wang, but Xiang Wang had no choice but to invite the emperor to mediate. Zhu Jianshen, the emperor of Chenghua, issued an imperial edict, asking Xiang Wang to choose a nearby place with a treasure trove of geomantic omen, and the government should provide its own materials and build a temple for the monks. After the temple was built, it was returned to the monk, and Zhu Jianshen changed the name of the temple to "guangde temple". "Give guangde temple a gift" is still hanging on the gate of guangde temple. Guangde temple is 25 meters long from north to south, 18 meters long from east to west, and the Husi River is more than 1 meters long. The main buildings are the Stone Pagoda of the Emperor Zen Master, Dongshan Gate, Nanshan Gate, Tianwang Hall, Jialandian Hall, Weituo Hall, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Ursa Major Hall, Guanyin Hall, Tibetan Scripture Building, Duobao Pagoda, Wing, Rooms and Courtyard, etc. There are 127 houses. Due to the ten-year catastrophe of the Cultural Revolution, most of the temples in guangde temple were demolished as the "Four Old Houses". By 1978, only the Heavenly King Hall, the Tibetan Scripture Building, the Duobao Pagoda and some wings existed.
