Wang Yu ancient town

Wang Yu Town is located in the upper reaches of Zhougong, 35 kilometers south of Ya 'an City, Sichuan Province, adjacent to Wawushan Scenic Area in Hongya County. It is an important post station for the Southern Silk Road and Lin Qiong Ancient Road (Tea-Horse Ancient Road) to enter and leave Chengdu. This is also the origin of Ya 'an famous specialty "Yayu". The ancient town was built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. At that time, the ancient tea-horse road set up a post station here to form a town. The main building is located on a boulder protruding from the mountainside. This boulder is named after a cat watching fish in Zhougong River.

Although the site selection of the ancient town of Wang Yu rose because of the post road, it also reflected the traditional concept of Feng Shui in China, namely, "pillow mountain, surrounded by water, face screen". Wang Yu Old Street is a winding long street with a total length of more than 200 meters. On both sides of the street, there are all wooden green tile houses and diaojiao buildings. The exquisite ripples, corners, windows and carvings on the pillars reveal the prosperity of the past. These buildings used to be yamen, silver village, pawnshop, drugstore, embroidered building, hotel, restaurant, tea shop and stage, but now most of them have become residential buildings. There are few people in the street. The bluestone road runs through the street, and the road surface has been polished by the years. In ancient times, there were iron fence roads at both ends of the old street, and the long stone steps extended to the river and connected with the new street. To enter the old street, you must climb the stone steps halfway up the mountain. This terrain is easy to defend but difficult to attack.

There are gaps between the floors of houses in Wang Yu Old Street, and some doors are equipped with steps, and there are holes between the steps and the street surface, forming a drainage system. Ya 'an was called "the sky leaks" in ancient times. There is a lot of rain in this area. Houses are mostly four-headed, also known as "four waters return to the pool" type. The eaves are connected on all sides. When it rains, pedestrians walk under the eaves without getting wet. Walking up the hill from the old street, you can see some houses on the hillside. Compared with the old street, the courtyard is large, with a large number of exquisite wood carvings and stone carvings.

Wang Yu Laojie

Wang Yu Old Street is a long zigzag street, and a bluestone road runs through the whole street. The road surface has been polished by years, which reminds people of merchants and caravans coming and going on the ancient tea-horse road. On both sides of the street are all wooden blue tile houses and diaojiao buildings, and the exquisite corrugations, corners, windowsills and carved flowers on columns reveal the prosperity of the past. These buildings used to be yamen, silver village, pawnshop, drugstore, embroidered building, hotel, restaurant, tea shop and stage, but now most of them have become residential buildings. In ancient times, there were long stone ladders at both ends of the old street, which could reach the river and connect with the new street. To enter the old street, you must climb to the mountainside along the stone ladder, showing the defensive nature of being easy to defend but difficult to attack, which is the need of the ancient town to defend against mountain thieves.

Sky leakage

Due to the terrain limitation, the overall shape of Wang Yu Old Street is long and narrow, and the buildings are formed by connecting long streets in series. Lower shops and upper houses or patios are often used to divide different functions before and after, which has the characteristics of compounding. The facade of the house is mostly composed of door panels, chutes and door pivot holes. The floors of houses have a certain height difference, and some doorways are also equipped with several stone steps, which are connected with holes with various patterns in the street to form a complete drainage system. Ya 'an was called "the sky leaks" in ancient times. There is a lot of rain in the area. Houses are mostly four-headed, also known as "four waters return to the pool" type. The eaves are connected on all sides. When it rains, pedestrians can walk around under the eaves. Walking up the hill from the old street, you can see that some people's houses are built on the hillside. Compared with the residential buildings in the old street, the quadrangle is larger in scale, and a large number of exquisite wood carvings and stone carvings are preserved. The ancient town of Wang Yu later became the location of the film The Defendant Mountain Ye Gang.
