Ecuador is located in the northwest of South America, bordering Colombia in the northeast, Peru in the southeast and the Pacific Ocean in the west. The coastline is 930 kilometers long, and the equator crosses the north of the country. Ecuador covers an area of about 256,000 square kilometers, with Quito as the capital. ?
Ecuador is a relatively backward country in South America, and its economic development can be divided into three periods, namely, the cocoa period, the banana period and the oil period. Ecuador's industrial base is weak, mainly including oil and mining, manufacturing, construction and power industry. Agricultural development is slow, and food cannot be self-sufficient. Ecuador has always attached importance to tourism, which has become Ecuador's fourth largest foreign exchange earning industry.
Terrain of Ecuador
The western coast of Ecuador includes coastal plains and hills, with high terrain in the east and low terrain in the west, generally below 200 meters above sea level, and some hills and low mountains with an altitude of 600-700 meters. It belongs to the tropical rain forest climate, and the southernmost part begins to transition to the tropical grassland climate.
After Colombia entered Ecuador, the central Andes was divided into East Cordillera and West Cordillera. The plateau between the two mountains is high in the north and low in the south, with an average elevation of 2500 to 3000 meters.
The eastern region is part of the Amazon river basin. At an altitude of1200-250m, the river at the foot of the mountain is swift, and the alluvial plain is below 250m, with wide river surface, gentle water flow and tortuous flow.
