But some celebrities often write different things because of different times, or according to the characteristics of their children, or according to their own life experiences.
For example, Lu You, a patriotic poet in the Northern Song Dynasty, not only asked his children to be eager to learn and make progress, but also asked them to practice. He wrote in a poem entitled "Reading on a Winter Night" (Yu: Y, used things, here refers to "things"):
The ancients learned nothing,
A young man's kung fu never fails.
What you get on paper is superficial,
Never knew it needed doing.
In just 28 words, what Lu You reveals here is a great truth about epistemology and practice.
Lu You also wrote a poem "Xiuer" before his death. He didn't ask his children how to be loyal to the country and how to be filial to their families. Or how to follow in his father's footsteps. He only asked his children to do one thing for him:
When you die, everything is empty,
But I'm sad to see Kyushu.
Julian Waghann Beiding Zhongyuan Day,
Family sacrifices will not be forgotten.
Just 28 words clearly show the poet's concern for the country and the people. The expectation of children has deeply hurt people.
Lin Zexu, a patriotic hero in the late Qing Dynasty, had unusual political aspirations, and his self-cultivation and financial management concepts were also unusual. He once wrote such a couplet:
Shanglian:
If my children and grandchildren are like me, then why do they keep the money? If you are virtuous and have more money, you will lose your ambition;
Downlink:
My children and grandchildren are not as good as me. What did you leave the money for? Fools with more money will increase their excesses.
He also wrote a motto of "Ten Useless", calling ten things that people usually regard as beneficial and work hard for them all their lives "Ten Useless" as the code of conduct for future generations:
Bad intentions, feng shui is useless.
It's no use making friends if brothers are not at peace.
It's no use being fooled by cleverness.
It's no use taking medicine at all costs.
It's no use taking other people's money without authorization.
It is useless to serve God if you are not filial to your parents.
It's no use reading if you don't behave properly.
It's useless to be arrogant and knowledgeable.
No luck, it's no use asking for anything.
Lust, lust is useless.
Lin Zexu does not think that these ten things are "useless" in themselves, but sets preconditions in front of each thing, making the requirements for these ten things more pure and perfect.
For the future of future generations, most people want to get ahead, become famous and get married. Bai Juyi, a great poet in the Tang Dynasty, was attacked by politics for no reason at the age of 44 and was demoted to Jiangzhou Sima. From then on, "the sorrow and joy on the face were eliminated, and the right and wrong in the chest were eliminated"; I saw through the sinister world and shattered my yearning for fame and fortune. He wrote a poem to warn future generations, entitled "Sitting around reading makes a teenager":
I have leisure between windows, reading and sitting all day.
Seeing the past in the book, we can clearly know the good and bad.
If you take more, you will die. If you have a hard meeting, you will fall first.
I advise you to work less and call it a lock.
To persuade you to make less profit is to burn your body.
We can't take this poem as a negative exhortation. It is a godson sutra full of philosophy. Excessive pursuit of fame and fortune will surely lead to consequences.
Su Shi, a great writer in the Song Dynasty, had a bumpy political career and worked hard everywhere. A.D. 1083 (the sixth year of Yuanfeng in Song Shenzong), at the age of 46, he and Wang Chaoyun gave birth to a son in Huangzhou, named as posthumous title Ganer (homonym with Dun). On the day of the full moon, Su Dongpo wrote a poem on a whim:
Everyone wants to be smart when they adopt a son.
I have been misled by cleverness all my life.
I just hope this kid is stupid and honest,
No disaster is difficult to reach the minister.
Su Shi's poems, though from random words, belong to random ridicule in happiness; But it was also his own experience that made him complain about the status quo. Reading makes people feel a kind of bitterness in harmony. God also deliberately played a trick on Dongpo, a child who looked like his father and died before he was one year old.
Wang Yangming, a famous thinker and writer in Ming dynasty, wrote a family instruction of Wang Yangming in the form of "three-character classics", also known as three-character poems. Although the full text is only 96 words, it contains almost all the contents and wisdom of dealing with people:
Zi Cao, listen to his teachings; Study hard and be filial to your parents;
Learn humility and follow etiquette; Diet and games;
Not lying, not greedy; No feelings, no quarrels;
Don't complain, be independent. Being a servant is determined to win;
Being able to accommodate people is a great tool. Be a man, in your heart;
Kind-hearted, a good man; Fierce and cruel.
Yuan Mei, a famous poet in Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty, had a daughter who was gifted. Many famous families come to ask for relatives, but he doesn't allow them. Finally, she married her daughter to the son of an ordinary family outside Gusu. On the wedding day, Yuan Mei specially wrote a poem "Marry a Female Word":
Gu En is not rich, and her husband has no sympathy.
But listening to Guan Ju's voice is always in the spring breeze.
The meaning of this poem is to tell my daughter that looking for a partner can't just seek property, nor can it just pay attention to appearance; The key is that men and women two of a kind can have a truly happy life. This is a true story more than 200 years ago, but this poem tells the correct view of marriage and love of modern people. Daughter Yuan obeyed her father's instructions. After getting married, the couple got along well. Yuan women also regard this word as a family heirloom, passed down from generation to generation.
