Yangtze University, referred to as "Growing Up", is located in Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, a famous historical and cultural city in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. It is a comprehensive university with the most comprehensive disciplines among provincial universities in Hubei Province. It is a key university in Hubei Province, approved as a "double-first-class" university in Hubei Province, and selected as the national "Basic Capacity Building Project for Universities in the Midwest".
The history of Yangtze University can be traced back to the establishment of Beijing Institute of Petroleum Technology in 1950. In 1978, it was renamed Jianghan Petroleum Institute, and began to hold general undergraduate education, which was affiliated to China Oil and Gas Corporation.
In April 2003, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the former Jianghan Petroleum College, Hubei Agricultural College, Jingzhou Normal College and Hubei Medical College of Health Workers merged to form Yangtze University. In 2006, the school was granted the right to confer doctoral degrees.

Jianghan Petroleum Institute, formerly known as Beijing Institute of Petroleum Technology founded by 1950, began to hold general undergraduate education at 1978, which belongs to China Oil and Gas Group. Since 2000, it has been established by the central and local governments and placed under the management of Hubei Province. Hubei Agricultural College, formerly known as Huazhong Agricultural College Jingzhou Branch, was founded in 1977, 1989 and approved by the State Education Commission as an ordinary undergraduate college.
The former Jingzhou Normal College was formerly known as fourth area Simple Normal School, which was founded in 1936. Jingzhou Teachers College was established in 1978, and was transformed into Jingzhou Teachers College with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 1999. The former Hubei Medical College of Health Workers was formerly Shashi Health School in Hubei Province. Founded on 195 1, 1977 was renamed as Jingzhou Branch of Wuhan Medical College, and 1984 was renamed as Hubei Medical College of Health Workers.
Location: The school headquarters is located in Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, a famous historical and cultural city in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, with Wuhan campus.
