Back to the text, there are two theories about the decline of Taoism.
First of all, it is more wonderful.
The last French era
That is, after the war of sealing gods, the ancestor Hong Jun opened up the heaven and blocked the passage to the earth star (the earth). People gradually turn from their own practice to the research and development of foreign objects, that is, the rise of science and technology. Under the artificial development and destruction of the earth star, the aura of heaven and earth disappeared, people's hearts were not ancient, no one could cultivate Buddhism, and Taoism gradually declined.
Jedi Tiantong
That is to say, after the divination, the earth law is no longer suitable for practice, and the matter is determined by the spirit and becomes the spirit of material awareness. The Jedi are connected with Heaven, and the magic can't stand the test and naturally declines.
Second, return to reality.
Taoist disaster in Ming dynasty
At one time, most Taoism disappeared collectively in the late Ming Dynasty. Second, it shows that Taoism decided to close the mountain for 500 years, and it will take 300 to 2 100 years to end. This is only 20 14 years early. Third, when Zhu Yuanzhang was emperor, he was very afraid of Taoism (as if it had something to do with Liu Bowen's chopping down of Long Mai at that time), and then ordered to tamper with Taoist books, which led to the loss of many Taoist things.
ten-year upheaval
As we all know, after Mao conquered the world, he launched the Cultural Revolution. Taoism was the first to be implicated in that disaster. At that time, I don't know how many Taoist temples were forcibly demolished, Taoist holy places were trampled, Taoist celebrities were criticized to death by Yu Xia, and how many precious Taoist classics were burned into worthless waste paper and firewood, and the inheritance of Taoism was interrupted and began to decline.
Objective reasons: Taoism is too mysterious, and most of those Taoist theories are correct from now on. They involve several disciplines, such as medicine, mathematics, astronomy and so on. , it can be seen that its wisdom is deep. But Taoism likes to use terminology, classics and the like, and basically doesn't want to fully understand it without the guidance of a master. If you use classical Chinese, it is very difficult for people to read it, let alone master it, so that most people can't understand it. No one understands that there are fewer people who believe in nature and fewer people who inherit Taoist culture. Let's look at the three major religions in the world, Buddhism, Islam and Christianity. Which one is not easy to understand and close to the masses, and which one is not boastful and fascinating. Compared with them, Taoism is like the flower of Gaoling, which can only be desecrated from a distance.
Finally, Taoism is my native religion in China after all. Compared with those three outsiders, I still hope that everyone will support Taoism more.
This is just my opinion, I hope it can help you.
