Kyoto Railway Station, a masterpiece of Japanese architect Hiroshi Hara, is a comprehensive building, including hotels, department stores, shopping centers, cinemas, museums, exhibition halls, local government offices and parking lots. It is like a theme park representing an international city, incorporating foreign design factors: the atrium of American shopping centers, the traditional public space of western cities and the transportation center of Japan. Kyoto Railway Station is no longer a simple railway station, but a large-scale open-air stage, a gathering place for large-scale activities, a panoramic view of the ancient city, a shopping center and an air city. Of course, it is also a railway station and transportation hub.
I arrived at Kyoto station for the first time from Tokyo Shinkansen. By the way, when I talked with the Japanese about Shinkansen, I also said Shinkansen in Mandarin, and they understood.
At that time, I arrived in a hurry. I went to the tourist center and got a map of China. I asked if I wanted to take a bus to our hotel and left in a hurry. I accidentally looked up and thought it was just an ordinary station plus a shopping station.
Then, because Kyoto station is the terminal of many buses, we bought another one-day card, so in the next few days, we did nothing but sit at Kyoto station and change trains. Until the last day, I suddenly wanted to eat a famous Lamian Noodles and found it at Kyoto Station. I walked into Kyoto station again, looked up and got a fright. It turns out that I have been in a huge monster. At this time, I picked up my mobile phone and looked at the history of Kyoto Station. This is the first paragraph I quoted in this article.
At first glance, I found that there was such a big space on it.
Stairs like ladders
When I walked up the escalator layer by layer, I realized how ingenious the design here was. At that time, I wanted to send it to all the students who studied architecture, so I must come and see such a building with a wide brain.
1, below the second floor are various traffic tracks and platforms. 1, the second floor is the shopping mall, all the way to the ninth floor, 10 is the food street. On the roof is a scenic city park overlooking Kyoto. There are escalators and steps on the left and right sides of each floor, which can be reached by elevators and can be switched freely.
The steps are covered with colorful neon lights. Sitting on the steps, watching the lights change and changing yourself is like being in a psychedelic world. Like a ladder, walking on the ladder of light, like the legendary approach bridge of Rainbow Bridge, seems to sit in the light by going straight. Shopping malls and foodies on both sides remind you of the colorful material world.

television tower
I walked to the top and looked at passers-by rushing in and out at the bottom. I don't know how many times I have done this kind of passerby.
On the top floor, the breeze is blowing gently, the TV tower is close at hand, the whole Kyoto is at the foot, and there are many traffic arteries intertwined with various tracks. Some people are frolicking around, others are resting quietly. Such a city park gives everyone a chance to get in touch with the sky and the breeze. I suddenly understand why men and women in many TV dramas meet on the rooftop.
It is also a place suitable for being in a daze or gathering. Especially after night.
Integrating aesthetics and functionalism into one station, so as to complete the design of wide brain opening, is a big bloom of people in architecture.
