Recently, according to media reports, a video about "There are many giant cages in the depths of Poyang Lake" has attracted the attention of many netizens. Online video shows that four endless ground cages are laid on the dry lake bed of Poyang Lake, and each ground cage is connected by several single ground cages about three or four meters long, like a "ground cage array". According to the photographer, when I saw these cages at the scene, it was like a big war was about to start, and the scene was shocking.
It is reported that the ground cage is a kind of fishing and shrimp catching tool, also known as "homeless net" and "ecstasy net", which is mainly composed of a square steel frame and fishing net pieces. Most of the fishing nets are woven by machine, but some of them are hand-woven and knotted, while the square steel frame is folded into a "mouth" shape with iron bars or steel bars. Generally speaking, the length of a ground cage is three or four meters, but in order to catch fish and shrimp conveniently, people will combine multiple ground cages to form a long cage.
Because the holes in the ground cage are very small, it is difficult for fish and shrimp larvae to escape once they enter, not to mention the slightly larger fish and shrimp, which basically can't come back. Therefore, the ground cage is also called the "dead fish cage". According to a folk environmentalist, the ground cage is destructive to fish resources and harmful to the aquatic ecological environment. People's Republic of China (PRC) Fisheries Law clearly stipulates that the ground cages have been listed as prohibited fishing gear.
