When I arrived in the ancient town of Songkou, just after I parked the car, my nut mother brought me sugar cane planted by local farmers, which was very sweet.
The ancient town is located at the junction of four regions (Fuzhou, Putian, Sanming and Quanzhou). Although the ancient town is under the jurisdiction of Fuzhou, the local dialect is more inclined to Putian or Quanzhou accent.
Dazhangxi River passes through most areas of Yongtai and also flows through Songkou Ancient Town. Dazhangxi once brought prosperity to the ancient town. According to the tour guide, before the reservoir was built in the upper reaches of Dazhangxi, the water level here was high. The old pier in the ancient town used to be beautiful and bustling. Although the old pier is no longer beautiful, the geomantic omen here still protects people in the ancient town.
The old pier in the ancient town is facing the north of Guangxi, and the stream flowing in front of the mountain is like a snake. This landform, where turtles and snakes meet, is praised by the local people as an excellent land of geomantic omen. It is said that the god beast Xuanwu is a combination of tortoise and snake, which is a symbol of good luck. No wonder the old pier is so prosperous, standing in front of it, savoring it calmly, as if seeing the prosperous pier scene here during the Qing Dynasty.
Strange "Never Drowning Women" Monument, Nut Mother told me that this monument has allusions. A long time ago, some people drowned their baby girls in the water because they gave birth to daughters instead of sons. The local people erected this monument to warn people. It is estimated that in retrospect, this monument should have a history of nearly a hundred years, maybe longer.
Dexing building is located in front of the old pier.
There are not many scenic spots in Songkou ancient town, but there are two relatively concentrated places, one is the ancient street and the other is the crane-shaped road, named after the shape of the road is similar to the neck of a crane. It's an interesting road. The ancient houses in it seem to be the old village houses in Korean dramas.
Is it a bit like the ancient dwellings of Korean dramas? !
At the end of crane road, we met Zhang Xi again. Dazhangxi seems to be the patron saint of the ancient town, which gently surrounds the ancient town of Songkou. A wooden deer by the stream is looking into the distance.
The remaining broken walls seems to be telling the long memory of the ancient town.
