What is width and depth?

Definition:

We call the main lighting surface of a building (or room) the width of the room, and the one perpendicular to it is called the depth.

In residential design, a studio refers to the distance between the positioning axes of two adjacent transverse walls. Because of the width of a natural room, it is also called a studio. The residential bay is generally not more than 3.0-3.9 meters, and the brick-concrete residential bay is generally not more than 3.3 meters.

In architecture, depth refers to the actual length of a detached house or residential building from the front wall to the back wall. A house with a large depth can effectively save land, but in order to ensure that the built building has good natural lighting and ventilation conditions, the design requirements for the depth should not be too large.

Extended data:

In residential design, the width of the house refers to the actual distance between the positioning axis of one wall and the positioning axis of the other wall in the house. Because it is based on the width of a natural room, it is also called a studio. There are strict rules for the design of residential rooms. According to the Modular Coordination Standard for Residential Buildings (GBJ 100-87), the following parameters are commonly used in the width of residential buildings: 2. 1m, 2.4m, 2.7m, 3.0m, 3.3m, 3.6m, 3.9m and 4.2m ..
