Was Liu Bowen really angry to death by Zhuge Liang? What is recorded in official history?

The story of the intersection between Liu Bowen and Zhuge Liang has been circulated among the people. He said he was not convinced that Zhuge Liang was better than him, so he dug Mr. Zhuge's grave.

Liu Bowen was good at strategy and good at Feng Shui. He was a famous founding hero of the Ming Dynasty. People at the time praised him as the "rebirth of Zhuge Liang". He himself believed that he was not inferior to Zhuge Liang, and often revealed his knowledge, virtue, wisdom and strategy in his words. Therefore, he believed that he and Zhuge Liang should be equally matched.

He even said: Zhuge Liang had predicted who would come to pay homage and write inscriptions on the stele before he was alive. Later, it was fulfilled one by one. I would like to go and take a look. If that is the case, I will Kowtow to him 1,000 times.

So, he went to Zhuge Liang’s cemetery to pay homage.

First I saw a huge monument with five large seal characters on it: "I am here but no one is here". After he saluted, he took another look and couldn't help but laugh. Because he did not find the "prophecy" on the tablet, he believed that this was a "fallacy". So, the monument was smashed into three pieces.

Then, he continued to walk back less than twenty steps, and saw another huge round-headed monument blocking the road, covered with moss marks, and faintly visible writing. After removing the dust and dirt, Liu Bowen was shocked when he carefully identified the handwriting. It turns out that the five large characters in regular script on the stele were written by Zhuge Liang himself. Only Bowen was there.

He was so ashamed of this that he knelt on his knees and kowtowed 1,000 times. After the ceremony, he couldn't get up no matter how hard he tried. At this time, he suddenly found a line of small words on the bottom of the monument: Bowen put on his helmet and saluted, took off his helmet and stood up. ?After he did so, he stood up. This experience made him admire Zhuge Liang.

So, he went to Kongming Temple to set up a table, burn incense, and bow his head to worship. I saw a bowl of cold water on the table and a pair of boots under the bed. Quite curious, I drank all the water and put on my boots again, feeling a little proud. Unexpectedly, when he went out and looked up, on the large screen wall in front of him, there were two lines of gold characters written by Zhuge Liang himself: Wear my boots, drink my water, and walk to the sand dunes to encounter disaster. ?When he saw it, he knew something was wrong.

Liu Bowen was good at calculating and knew that Zhuge Liang was reminding him. On the way, he asked the bearer: How far is Dune Town from here? After listening to the bearer's answer, he asked the bearer to make a long circuit around the town. On the way back to Kyoto, we have to cross a dry sandy river bed. At this time, I saw two groups of urchins, one in the east and one in the west, each occupying a sand dune, playing and fighting with each other.

The sand dunes in the east are the Bagua formation diagram, and the sand dunes in the west are the Long Snake formation diagram. This group of urchins came and went, attacking and defending, and kept shouting: "East Sand Dune wins, West Sand Dune loses". When he heard this, he was confused. I thought to myself, Zhuge Liang was able to count on his present day. This was all caused by my own arrogance.

So, he wrote his "repentance" to warn future generations. After putting down his writing, he died of anger.

In addition, there is also such a legend in my hometown: After Liu Bowen assisted Zhu Yuanzhang in ascending the throne, he once went on an inspection tour. On the way, he passed by Zhuge Liang's tomb and saw an inscription that read: The best military advisor in the world. . At that time, I was very dissatisfied and thought to myself: You claim to be the best military adviser in the world but you can't guarantee Liu Bei to dominate the world, but I made Zhu Yuanzhang the emperor. Who is the best military adviser in the world between you and me?

Immediately, Liu Bowen ordered his subordinates to demolish it. Unexpectedly, as soon as the tombstone was dug out, a large darkroom was revealed. There was a large oil tank in the darkroom. The wick in the tank was still bright, but the oil was almost dry. There is an eye-catching inscription on the side of the tank: Lao Liu, Lao Liu, hurry up and add oil. Liu Bowen was shocked: he quickly ordered his subordinates to add oil and repair the tomb again. You can imagine what happened next.

Some people may ask: Why doesn’t the light go out in the darkroom? Oh! It depends on who built it!

Actually, this is just a small story in unofficial history, and naturally it cannot be taken seriously. Liu Bowen never dug Zhuge Liang's grave. According to historical records, Liu Bowen fell ill, and Zhu Yuanzhang asked Prime Minister Hu Weiyong to visit him and give him medicine. Liu Bowen died within a few days after taking the medicine. Therefore, his death was related to poison.

After his death, his family was also persecuted, their homes were confiscated, and they were exiled. There was not much left of the Liu family. Many people claim to be his descendants, but most of them are fake. However, there are also historical data saying that his ninth grandson Liu Yu was attacked and made an earl in the 10th year of Jiajing. In fact, this story mythologized Mr. Zhuge, but it also belittled Liu Bowen.

The real Liu Bowen in history was not only a military strategist that people are familiar with, but also a writer. Regarding the order of elimination of Chen Youliang and Zhang Shicheng, he gave correct suggestions based on the military situation at the time and helped Zhu Yuanzhang achieve a decisive victory. Moreover, his Confucian thoughts had a direct impact on the trend of academic thought in the early Ming Dynasty.

Because he was proficient in astronomy, and because he had always played the role of a "think tank" in helping Zhu Yuanzhang establish the Ming Dynasty, he was later compared to Zhuge's strategist and strategist. But why was he so blackened? In fact, the story goes like this: People must not be arrogant or arrogant, otherwise the consequences will be ugly.

However, it is quite intriguing why two outstanding figures in history are compared together. Mr. Zhuge's high status among the people is because of "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms", but the book was written by later generations. But Liu Bowen's "fame" among the people was already there before him. If he didn't deliberately publicize it, how would the people know about his "strategy"?

Although the stories of unofficial historians are used as "talking points" after dinner, they are used as "educational" themes to deliberately "smear" a person. This is not an uncommon example. Liu Bowen and Zhuge Liang had no grudges, but some people had grudges against him. Looking back at the background of the era in which he lived, many answers should be readily available.

Reading stories is just for entertainment. If you take it seriously, it will be meaningless. Otherwise, Mr. Zhuge will really know when you have read his story. Of course, reading historical records requires us to wear "speculative" glasses. After all, in the long river of time, noises always come and go.
