The ruins of the ancient city is a city that completely conforms to the astronomical geomantic theory of the Tang Dynasty, and is called the ancient geomantic city. Langzhong is known as "Yuen Long Wonderland" and "Bashu Yao Chong". Du Fu, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, left a famous sentence here: "Langzhou is vast and sparsely populated in the south of the city".
There are two mountain systems in Langzhong: Bashan to the east of Jialing River and Jianmen Mountain to the west. Two mountains branch, with residual veins. In the ancient city of Langzhong, the city moves from northwest to south-central and northeast to southwest, respectively, forming a weir-tail trough-shaped terrain and a multi-step terrain with high east-west and low middle, which is in the transition zone from the low mountainous area in northern Sichuan to the hilly area in central Sichuan.
Langzhong City is a municipality directly under the Central Government of Sichuan Province (managed by Nanchong City), located in the northeast of Sichuan Basin, the middle reaches of Jialing River and the southern foot of Qinba Mountain. For more than 2,000 years, it has been a key point and military town of Bashu, and has the reputation of "Fairyland in Yuen Long" and "Rare in Langzhong". Together with Lijiang in Yunnan, Pingyao in Shanxi and Shexian in Anhui, it is called the "Four Ancient Cities" in China.
Langzhong covers an area of 1.878 square kilometers, governs 46 townships and 4 sub-district offices, and has a total population of 88 1.9 million (20 10), including 320,000 urban residents.
