Shifeng Temple (Shifeng Guanghua Zen Temple) Attraction Introduction:
Shifeng Temple. Also known as Shifeng Guanghua Zen Temple. It is located at the foothills of Baizhuyangshifeng Mountain in Fu'an City: 30 kilometers away from the county seat. The temple was first built in the first year of Jingfu of the Tang Dynasty (892). It was originally located on the top of the mountain and was moved here during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty (1403-1424). According to records. Emperor Wuzong of the Ming Dynasty once visited this temple. He inscribed a plaque on the temple titled "Shifeng Guanghua Zen Forest" and presented him with a poem. In the poem, there is a sentence: "The fish in the square pond are moved by the shadow to amaze the visitors, and the sound of the bamboo in the middle of the ridge attracts the wind." It was rebuilt during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty (1796-1820). The temple covers an area of ??13,000 square meters. Sitting west and facing east, standing next to the mountain, the building is majestic. Although it has lasted for thousands of years, the temple still remains. Legend has it that in ancient times, an old monk traveled around and saw that the mountains here were like arches and the water was flowing around the mountains. There was a mountain in the middle that looked like a lion, standing high among the peaks. It was majestic, so he wanted to build here. temple. So the old monk moved an incense burner at night and placed it at the door of a house named Lin at the foot of the mountain. The next morning, the owner saw the incense burner and moved it to another place. When he opened the door the next day, the incense burner was again at the door of the house. This happened for several days. The owner of the Lin family was surprised and didn't know why. Suddenly I heard the sound of wooden fish and saw an old monk coming from a distance, so I asked him for advice. The old monk said: "This is the intention of the Buddha, asking the master to donate his house to build a temple." The owner of the Lin family donated all the land and houses of the Lin family of Bo Zhuyang to build the temple. After the temple was completed, the Lin family prayed to the Buddha for instructions on where to settle down. According to the instructions of the Buddha, the family took bamboo rafts down the Qianyang River, passed through Saiqi, passed through the Baima Gate, and landed in Qidu, Ningde. The family settled in Qidu. All. It is said that Lin Cong, a Jinshi in the Ming Dynasty and an official to the Minister of Punishment. They are descendants of the Lin family.
Shifeng Temple is composed of four main buildings: Tianwang Hall, Main Hall, Dharma Hall and Guanyin Pavilion. These four buildings are built on the same central axis. The other buildings are symmetrically placed on both sides. The layout is patchwork and simple. Elegant, showing obvious architectural style of the late Tang Dynasty. When tourists enter the Tianwei Hall with its carved beams and painted edifices, they see Maitreya with an open belly and a smile to welcome people; Bodhisattvas and heavenly kings are majestic. After passing the archway, there is a statue of Wei Tuo, the protector, standing on the back, with a neat appearance. After passing the patio and entering through the steps, you will find the magnificent Mahavira Palace. Looking at the roof of the Heavenly King's Hall in front of the Main Hall, it has three overlapping eaves, like a tower, with a gorgeous shape. The main hall is filled with cigarette smoke and is spotless everywhere. It can be described as a veritable pure place. The main hall is more than 13 meters deep. It is more than 10 meters wide and 14 meters high.
There are 24 square granite columns, 8 of which are 2.2 meters in circumference and more than 5 meters high, supporting the wooden roof beams and rafters. There are 16 stone pillars around the main hall, with a circumference of 11.8 meters, supporting the cornices. The windows, beams and walls around the hall are intricately carved with various patterns. Standing in the hall, one can only see the overlapping brackets and beams supporting the well, supporting the hexagonal caisson in the middle. The top is painted with dragons and phoenixes, which are lifelike. Although the pattern has been aged over the years, one can still vaguely imagine the style of the past. The main hall is a wooden structure with double eaves, resting on the top of the mountain and raised beams, which is similar to the main hall of Hualin Temple in Fuzhou. There are more than 200 camel-shaped rafters extending neatly under the two eaves outside, just like the architectural pattern of the Song Dynasty.
Behind the Main Hall is the Dharma Hall. The Dharma Hall is a wooden building with a single eaves and a roof, with a height of 13 meters and a height of 9 meters. There are flower gardens, monks' rooms, guest rooms, kitchens, etc. on both sides of the Dharma Hall. In December 1933, more than 150 farmer representatives from Fu'an and Xiapu held a meeting here under the chairmanship of Zhan Rubai, Ye Fei and Zeng Zhi. The meeting decided to establish the East Fujian Red Belt Federation and the Soviet regime to carry out the agrarian revolution. After liberation, the Fu'an County Civil Affairs Department erected a monument here for protection. Behind the Dharma Hall is the Guanyin Pavilion. In front of the pavilion is a clear pond with red carps stocked in it. There are camellias, peonies, wintersweet and other flowers beside the pool. Next to the Guanyin Pavilion, there is a thousand-year-old cypress, 14 meters high, with old trunks and new branches, full of vitality. According to the monk of the temple, before this temple existed, this cypress existed first.
Chen Bao, a minister of Ningde in the Ming Dynasty, wrote a poem about visiting the temple: "I am stationed in Songguan for a while, and the flavor of the monks is the same as the mountain. The trees in the ridge have begun to draw clouds, and the flowers in the garden are competing for their beauty in the rain. Fu Cai Zheng is thinking about the refreshing south wind, and Liu Ying is ashamed of his leisure. He looks to the west of Xifeng, and there is no need to delete it. "Shifeng Temple faces the beautiful Baizhuyang Thirty-Six Village and Baizhu Reservoir, with Banyan Tree in the south. The wonders of the ancient banyan tree in Toucun are connected with the Wugu Fairy Palace, Xingyun Temple, Fulu Temple and other historic sites. This is one of the birthplaces of the East Fujian Revolution. It can not only give people the enjoyment of beauty, but also provide people with revolutionary and traditional education.
