How did Sanwei Mountain get its name?

Sanwei Mountain is located in the southeast of Dunhuang City, Gansu Province, commonly known as Yu Sheng, and belongs to the Qilian Mountains. The three peaks are towering and the potential is declining, hence the name.

According to legend, Sanwei Mountain, formerly known as Niujiliang Mountain, hangs the sun in the morning and the moon at night, making the whole mountain shine brightly. One day, the Tengu ran to the mountain and stole the sun and the moon, ready to eat them. There are three brothers in the local area, whose names are Great Danger, Second Danger and Third Danger, so the villagers are organized to drive away Tengu. Can be driven away, it came again, so three dangerous brothers stood on the mountain, guarding the sun and the moon. Over time, the three dangerous brothers standing on the back of the cow became three tall and straight peaks, which people called three dangerous mountains.
