The Taiping Heavenly King’s Mansion is a famous scenic spot among the archaeological remains in Wuxi.
The Taiping Palace is located on Tongzhenguan Road, Yicheng. It was built in the Qing Dynasty. It was originally the residence of the Shi family. After the Taiping Army captured Yixing in the 10th year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (1860), it became the residence of the auxiliary king Yang Fuqing. Later, it served as the residence of King Li Xiucheng and became a provincial cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu.
There are three existing entrances to the palace, all of which are on hard tops. Enter 7 rooms at first and 6 bays deep. There are 5 rooms in the second entrance, including 3 in the main hall and 1 in the east and west wings. The third one is 5 rooms deep and 8 racks deep. There are 4 murals on the east and west walls of the main hall, and there are also 4 murals on the third main hall, all of which are works from the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom period.
In 1985, the palace was renovated and opened to the public as the Yixing Historical Relics Exhibition Hall. Enter the main exhibition hall secondly.
