A very important purpose of this work is to finally select the best variety we think and plant it in our nursery in spring, which can be regarded as the completion of our investment plan this year.
We have drawn up several necessary conditions for selecting tree species in advance: first, the shape and leaves of the tree should be very ornamental, and it is best to bloom. Second, it is a native variety of China. We don't choose exotic or mutated varieties that have been hyped. Third, there are no pests and diseases. Fourth, it is adaptable and easy to survive. Fifth, try to avoid conventional varieties with large market stocks. However, in this way, there are not many trees left, but these trees are just what we need. Just like discovering the New World, we found a rare tree species-Liu Sushu.
In the north of China, willow is the most elegant and romantic garden ornamental plant I know at present. Let alone how charming its stems are naturally bent, how comfortable its oval leaves are, and how noble its flowers are. Its name alone will make you have endless beautiful associations.
When I was at school, I learned an article by Gong Zizhen called The Story of the Sick Plum House. I remember that people at that time "took pleasure as beauty, and straight was without posture;" Tilting is beautiful, and no scenery is regular; Sparse is beautiful and secret is stateless. " In fact, trees are used for occasions, and it doesn't matter whether they are straight or inclined or dense. The environment needs people to like it. It is wrong for the literati in Qing Dynasty to deliberately pursue morbid beauty, and it is also worthy of criticism for modern people to blindly pursue straight round hats. Therefore, I think natural beauty is the real beauty. It is difficult for the trunk of willow to meet the requirements of straightness in modern times. Although its material is extremely hard, it is very flexible, and you can weave or shape its branches at will. Its natural trunk is mostly curved, some are S-shaped, some are Z-shaped, and some are serpentine. Every tree has a different look, exudes a literati-like free and easy temperament, noble and confident, which is its charm.
Whenever spring comes, the branches of the fork spit out clusters of green buds. These dense buds, together with the flowers that bloom in April, can be used as tea, so people also call them tea trees. My wife tried to make some tassel tea this spring. Tea tastes soft and delicious, and it is long and fragrant. In the 1980s and 1990s, willow was mainly exported to South Korea. In Korea, willow is not only a valuable ornamental tree, but also tassel tea is consumed as a valuable gift. However, in China, it has never been treated with such lofty courtesy. What is even more unreasonable is that in recent years, it has been found that another value of it is to graft osmanthus as a diamond.
The same tree often has many different names, most of which are very vivid. Fringe, what a dignified and holy name, but in some places people call it April snow, which clearly tells you that it blooms in April and the flowers are white; Some people call it radish silk flower, which means that its flowers are as slender as radish silk. This title is acceptable. It at least reflects that people's focus is on the most beautiful place of this tree. Surprisingly, some places actually call it beef tendon. I don't know if people here still have a good impression on the world, and I don't know if they still have romantic feelings!
I really can't find any words to describe the beauty of fringed flowers. I can only say that it is the first in my heart and will never be replaced. Its flowers are so different. White flowers bloom in groups in April. From a distance, it looks like white clouds, and from a close look, it looks like snow. Bees are busy singing for it, butterflies are busy crowning it, and the faint fragrance is floating around in the wind, which makes people linger and indulge. I think, if there are several willows in their yard, I don't know how happy and romantic it would be.
In the materialistic era, beautiful things often can't resist the rolling world of mortals, just like autumn whispers are buried by the noise of a tracker's love. Willow has been abandoned by the profit-seeking market for a long time, so that many people in the industry don't know it. I can only say that this is an era without elegance. There is no place for such a noble variety as Liu Sushu. I don't know whether this is the sorrow of Liu Su Tree itself or the sorrow of our time.

Fortunately, since this year, more and more people have discovered its great potential in the greening industry and are planting, popularizing and applying it as a high-end variety. We have reason to believe that in the near future, you will definitely find the dazzling figure of willow trees on the streets of Beijing, because as far as I know, the relevant departments have begun to make preparations in this regard. 20 18
First, feng shui tree
Liu Sushu, also called Feng Shui Tree in some places. In Tuquan Village, Ezhuang Township, Zibo, Shandong Province, there is a thousand-year-old tassel, which is regarded as a sacred tree by local people. It is said that it has the miraculous effect of relieving cough and removing blood stasis, so it is cherished by local people. Therefore, the Zibo Municipal Government has specially protected its position as a forest park. Willow is a long-lived tree, and the oldest tree has reached 1600 years old.
Willow has strong adaptability, wide requirements for soil quality and temperature and humidity, and its disease resistance and repair ability are beyond imagination. Therefore, it is not surprising that a large number of ancient willows have been found in the Yellow River basin in Dalian, in Taihang Mountain areas such as Jixian, Yixian and Jinzhong.
Combining many advantages such as longevity, durability and pleasant, the title of Fengshui Tree is well deserved. 20 19
Net mangrove forest
Liu Sushu, also known as beef tendon, has a very flexible trunk. Naturally growing trunks are basically curved, and each one is so unique and has a poetic charm. Because of its unique, beautiful and spectacular flowering period, its appearance there will attract onlookers, so modern people also call it a net mangrove.
Last year's Arbor Day, the top leaders planted this willow tree. I think I chose this variety not only because of its beauty, but also because of its longevity.
At present, the longest-lived willow found in China is said to be in the Spring and Autumn Period. People who grow fast die quickly, so it is far-sighted for the country to advocate long-lived tree species in recent years. 2020.3.2 1
