Lizhou ancient city

The ancient city of Lizhou, where the ancient state capital is located, now belongs to Lixian County, Hunan Province, located on the west bank of Dongting and downstream of Lishui River. Jingxiang in the north, Wuling in the south, Bashu in the west and Yunmeng in the east are the gates of Jiuli. Lizhou has a long history. Founded in the first year of Shaotai in the Southern Dynasties (AD 555), it was also called Lizhou in the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. 19 12 waste state is a county, named after Lishui, which has existed ever since.

The ancient culture of Lizhou is splendid and rich. As of July, 20 13, there are 532 cultural relics protection units 182 in China, including 3 national key cultural relics protection units 13, 4 provincial cultural relics protection units, 28 municipal cultural relics protection units and 137 county cultural relics protection units. Among them, the cultural relics belonging to the national key cultural relics protection units include the Huawa Pagoda, the Confucian Temple in Lizhou, the Yu Jia archway, the ancient city wall in Lizhou and other ancient buildings. Others include Yuxianlou, Feiyun Tower, Songzhu Stone Arch Bridge and Huahua Stone Arch Bridge.

Lizhou ancient city has beautiful scenery, with eight original views in the city and eight views outside the city. The remains are all there, and the charm is not diminished. There is also Furen Village, which is said to be the place where Mrs. Li Zicheng, the leader of the peasant uprising in the late Ming Dynasty, camped, and the site is still there. The folk story "Meng Jiangnv" tells that Xinzhou, Lizhou is her birthplace, and there are relics such as beauty ancestral temple, Wangfutai and laundry stone on Jiashan nearby.
