How much do you know about car heaters?
Hello everyone, this is daily car knowledge. It's winter now, and the weather is getting colder and colder. Today I'm going to talk to you about the issue of car heaters.
Car heaters are often used by car owners in winter, but it is really annoying when the heater is not hot. So in today’s episode, we will introduce the principle and use of car heaters, as well as the main reasons why car heaters are not hot in winter.
First of all, let’s talk about the classification of car heaters and their working principles. In today's cars, if divided according to the type of heat source, the car's heating system is mainly divided into two types. One uses engine coolant as the heat source, which is also the heating system used by most vehicles at present. As for the other type, it uses fuel as the heat source, which is also a form used by a few high-end cars.
Then the working principle of the heating system is roughly like this. When the temperature of the engine coolant is relatively high, the coolant flows through the heat exchanger of the heating system, and then the air sent by the blower is Exchange heat with our engine coolant. After the air is heated, it is sent into the car through each air outlet by the blower. So what we enjoy is no longer the cold wind.
As for the second question, let’s talk about the use skills of air conditioner and heater. The first point is that the car must be preheated. In the above principle analysis, we have already mentioned the heating function of the air conditioner, which comes from the heat emitted by the heater water tank. Therefore, if you want the air conditioner to blow out warm air, the premise is that the water temperature of the vehicle must be at a normal value, that is, the vehicle must be in a hot state. Otherwise, if you start the air conditioner immediately, the air conditioner will only be able to blow out cold wind.
The second point is, let’s talk about the circulation mode of the air conditioner. Based on our previous tests, we concluded that selecting the internal circulation mode in the early stages of turning on the air-conditioning heater will bring about a better heating effect in our cabin. After the cabin temperature reaches a certain level, in order to ensure the circulation of air in the cabin, we still recommend that you switch the air conditioner to external circulation mode in time. Of course, this also depends on the weather conditions in your area. The third point is, let’s talk about the air conditioning temperature settings.
Perhaps many people think that the higher the air-conditioning temperature is, the better. In fact, this is not the case. Although an excessively high air-conditioning temperature will quickly heat up the car, a higher temperature will also slow down the driver's reaction. Passengers will also feel uncomfortable. We recommend that you set the temperature of your air conditioner to around 22 degrees Celsius, which is more appropriate.
As for the third question, let’s talk about the main reasons why the air conditioner’s warm air is not hot. If your car's heater is not hot, you should check and troubleshoot the heater system in time. The lack of heat in the heater is generally caused by two situations. One is a problem with the engine cooling system, and the other is a failure with the control system of the heater itself. So how do you determine the cause? As a result, the heater is not hot. Here I will teach you a method. We can touch the inlet and outlet pipes of the heater with our hands.
If the inlet and outlet pipes of the warm air are both cold, or one pipe is hot and the other is cold, then it is possible that the engine cooling system itself is faulty. If the inlet and outlet pipes of the heater are very hot, it usually means that the heater control system is faulty. So if the water inlet pipe of the heater system is very hot and the temperature of the outlet pipe is very low, it is generally because the small water tank of our heater is clogged.
At this time, we should replace the small water tank in time to ensure the normal operation of our heating system. So if there is a problem with the car heater control system, the first thing we need to check is the blower. The operation of each gear must ensure that each gear reaches sufficient speed, the air volume is large enough, and the wind direction must be normal. Can.
If the engine cooling system fails, it is usually due to the following two major reasons. The first type is a failure of the thermostat in the engine cooling system that controls the circulation of coolant.
If the thermostat opens prematurely or fails, a large cycle will continue. Then the temperature of the engine coolant has not risen enough to work properly, and the water temperature is not high, so the heating system will not have a good heating effect.
At this time we should replace the engine thermostat in time. Then the second type of reason is that the belt of the water pump slips or the impeller is damaged, which causes the water pumping capacity of our water pump to decrease. If there is insufficient coolant entering the heater water tank, it will cause the heater to not be hot. Therefore, it should be replaced in time.
