I. benevolence
The so-called "benevolence" is for the dragon mother. At present, a large number of documents have recorded in detail the story of the dragon mother's charity and benefit to the people, such as collecting eggs by the river, treating dragons by the stream, punishing deer with broken feet, dredging rivers, controlling floods and protecting the people. These stories all illustrate a truth, that is, people-oriented humanistic spirit. "Wei Yuan Ming Pao in the Spring and Autumn Period" says: "A benevolent person loves people, so he is benevolent." Han Feizi also said: "A benevolent person is willing to love others." The legendary dragon mother is famous for her love of life, so she punishes evil and promotes good, pursues good fortune and avoids evil, nurtures dragons, cultivates benevolence and benefits the environment. It is precisely because of this that Lingnan society in the Dragon Mother Cultural Circle has been advocating humanism and charity spirit for more than two thousand years, especially practicing the humanitarian spirit for the disadvantaged groups, which originated from the Dragon Mother Culture.
Second, filial piety.
The so-called "filial piety" is for Zi Long. Longzi is the second horn in the legend of Dragon Mother, and it is an integral part of Dragon Mother culture. Different versions of legends have different numbers, generally including Yi Long, Three Dragons and Five Dragons. No matter how many dragons there are in various versions of the legend, one important role remains unchanged, and that is the "tail-digging dragon" with bald tail. The so-called "tail-digging dragon" refers to a dragon with a broken tail. It is said that the dragon raised by the dragon mother is very naughty. The dragon mother broke her tail by mistake, so she became a tail-digging dragon. "Guangzhou Ji" contains: "Pukou has a mother, and dragons are raised in the west of the city, and the tail is broken. Because people call dragons, people see them, and the soil enriches the people. " The legendary tail-digging dragon's filial piety to his mother. Before she died, she obeyed orders, raised clouds and distributed rain, and spread blessings for the people. Behind her, I personally buried her and went back to the west of the city for her birthday every year. Zi Long's virtues are all the filial piety spirit of gratitude. "The Book of Rites" says: "Honor your relatives, followed by humiliation, can be cited below." Zi Long's actions are just in line with this third-class filial piety, which is attached to the dragon mother culture, so Zi Long's filial piety has penetrated into Lingnan society with the spread of the dragon mother culture. For more than two thousand years, Lingnan people have been influenced by this kind of filial piety, thus condensing a powerful force with filial piety as its virtue.
Third, good customs.
The so-called "good customs" are geared to the world. The legend of Dragon Mother was born in the Zhou and Qin Dynasties, which has been more than 2,000 years. It is an earlier legend of gods in Lingnan area, so it has a far-reaching influence on Lingnan society, and the feedback of this influence is a series of customs related to the legend of dragon mother formed in Lingnan society. For example, traditional customs such as "Anlong", "Dancing South Dragon", "Dragon Boat Race", "Tail Digging" and "Second Burial" popular in Lingnan area all originated from the legend of the dragon mother, and were skillfully combined with the traditional concepts of "respecting parents and filial piety" and "looking forward to one's success" in China, forming a series of good customs that are scientific, enlightened and have profound educational significance. "Book of Rites" says: "Cheerful and clear, smart eyes and ears, peaceful blood, changing customs and customs, the world is peaceful." The moral concepts carried by the dragon mother culture itself have a subtle influence on people's thoughts through communication, and then form a good atmosphere through people's practice.
The custom of benevolence, filial piety and kindness is the spiritual core of Dragon Mother Culture in 2000, and it is the moral cornerstone of Lingnan society, which deserves our inheritors to maintain and carry forward!
