The People's Armed Forces Department is a military work department established by the people of China in counties (banners, county-level cities and municipal districts), townships (towns), large and medium-sized factories, mines and universities. Its organizational system has undergone several changes. Since 195 1, most counties and municipal districts in China have established the People's Armed Forces Department, which belongs to the military organizational system and distributes active servicemen. 1954 was renamed the Military Service Bureau. 1958 was renamed the People's Armed Forces Department. Since 196 1, people's armed forces departments have also been set up in communes, large and medium-sized factories and mines, and colleges and universities, equipped with full-time local armed cadres. 1since July, 1985, the people's armed forces departments of counties (banners, county-level cities and municipal districts) have been placed under the local organizational system, and the dual leadership of local and military forces has been implemented, and the staff has also been changed to local cadres.
