Zhaoping's magical prose of sleeping Buddha

On the beautiful left bank of Gui Jiang, Zhaoping County, there is a huge natural sleeping Buddha lying quietly, with lifelike shape. "One Buddha, five mountains and one Buddha", the reclining Buddha consists of five mountains, stretching for two kilometers, with calm facial expression, full heaven, well-proportioned figure and realistic shape, which is a powerful evidence of nature's "blessed mountain city is bright and flat".

The sleeping Buddha stood on his back, his eyes closed slightly, and his eyes seemed to faintly reveal the light of God, which was kind and dignified. The whole reclining Buddha is magnificent, with his head resting on the Ma Xia Canyon in the west of Gui Jiang, and his face is handsome. The hair is thick and curly, the nose is straight, the tip of the nose is slightly raised, a lip line clearly spans between the upper lip and the lower lip, the two lips are plump, the lower lip slightly supports the upper lip, the mouth is slightly closed, the jaw is slightly warped and rounded, the facial features are clear and lifelike, and the proportion of forehead, eyebrow, nose and neck is even and appropriate; Sleeping Buddha's chest is full, his abdomen and legs are distinct, his legs extend to the vast mountains and he lies on his back between heaven and earth. His image is profound and full of philosophical thoughts. He is integrated with Gui Jiang and the mountains, just like a match made in heaven.

Lingshan scenic spot has a mystery.

According to legend, in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, a northern businessman named Lin sailed in Gui Jiang for many years, bought goods from the north and shipped them to Guangzhou for sale, and then bought goods from the south and shipped them back to the north for sale. At that time, Matan was known as "the first dangerous beach in Gui Jiang", with rugged rocks and sinister waterways. Crossing Matan is like crossing the "gate of hell", and shipwrecks often occur. Every time a ship arrives at Matan, Zhaoping, businessmen will burn incense and kowtow at the bow, praying for the God of Water to bless the merchant ships to pass through Ma Xia smoothly. By chance, he was surprised to find the reclining Buddha composed of several mountains. The giant Buddha just leaned his head on the horse beach. After that, every time the merchant's fleet passed Matan, it would burn incense and kowtow to the Buddha, praying for the peace of the Buddha. Therefore, every time his fleet sailed smoothly, it accumulated a lot of property.

In his later years, due to the long journey, rampant bandits along the way, and advanced age, the businessman decided not to sail any more. In order to thank the giant Buddha for his years of protection, he specially built a small temple on the right bank of Gui Jiang, just opposite the reclining Buddha. He made a sitting Buddha out of nine pounds of gold and a sitting Buddha out of ceramics, wrapped the golden Buddha in it and enshrined it in a temple. This deity is called Brother Buddha (Buddha is the floorboard of Arhat, and the person protected by Mahayana Bodhisattva is called Buddha, which means that he has Buddha's holiness and can inherit the great cause of Tathagata, so he is named Buddha), and there is also a code word "nine pounds of gold opposite Buddha", suggesting that there is gold buried here. Subsequently, a large number of greedy people who dreamed of getting rich overnight dug on the hillside opposite the small temple, but found nothing. Later, people gradually gave up treasure hunting. In the past, when ships came and went to Maxia Gorge, they all went to the temple to burn incense and pray for the blessing of Brother Buddha, so the incense in the Buddhist temple was the most prosperous.

During the reign of Kangxi, Huang, the political envoy of Guangxi, saw that Matan was sinister, so he took the lead in donating his ancestral property and savings, led everyone to split rocks and fry reefs, dredge waterways, and open up more than 40 kilometers of mountain roads and waterways. Matan lost its former sinister. The mountain road passes directly behind the Buddhist temple. Because people pass through Matan safely every time, they no longer burn incense in the temple, and the small temple is gradually abandoned.

In the early years of the Republic of China, there was a hawker named Yao in Fuyu Township who often went to the village to sell goods. One night, when he passed Ma Xia on his way home, he was caught in heavy rain, so the vendor ran to the Buddhist temple to take shelter from the rain. It's raining harder and harder, and the ruined temple leaks everywhere. The peddler moved on and approached the altar. Suddenly, a huge lightning startled the vendor. The vendor bumped into the altar and the Buddha statue fell from the altar. The vendor was quick-sighted and quickly caught the Buddha statue. With great difficulty, he respectfully put the Buddha statue back into the shrine and kowtowed to Brother Fozi in horror. The peddler is preparing to leave the ruined temple in the rain. Suddenly, a wonderful light flashed in his mind. He felt something was wrong with the Buddha statue. The vendor carefully looked at the Buddha statue and found that it was not very big, but it was very heavy when it was caught just now. It suddenly occurred to him that the argot "nine catties of gold opposite the Buddha" has been circulating in the village. The vendor thought: the Buddha is opposite ... didn't I face the Buddha face to face during the pilgrimage? Is there gold in it? The peddler hesitated and decided to take the heinous crime of blasphemy. He boldly picked up the Buddha statue and smashed it to the ground. The Buddha statue fell apart, revealing the golden Buddha inside. The peddler picked up the golden Buddha statue and was overjoyed, so he took the gold home in the rain.

Later, the news spread like wildfire. People came to the ruined temple and dug for three feet, but they couldn't find one or two pieces of gold, so the Buddhist temple was completely destroyed.

It's a coincidence that the Buddha has been lying for thousands of years.

Throughout the ages, residents along the coast of Gui Jiang have been told that there is a giant Buddha in Zhaoping, who is protecting the people and offering sacrifices to the giant Buddha. But because the reclining Buddha is so big, few people find its true meaning. It just lies quietly by the Guijiang River. During the Republic of China, several nearby villages invited the famous Mr. Feng Shui to explore the secrets of the giant Buddha, but they didn't know the specific location and true content of the giant Buddha. Mr. Feng Shui unanimously pointed out that the giant Buddha was hidden near Ma Xia. Therefore, the villages near the reclining Buddha are called Buddha-related names such as ding cun, Fodeng Village and Fodingchong. The villagers in Longping, Masheng and other villages, according to the guidance of Mr. Feng Shui, rebuilt a magnificent temple in the former site of the Buddhist temple, just in front of the reclining Buddha.

One day in July, 2005, a photographer in Zhaoping went to Gui Jiang to shoot beautiful scenery. His position happens to be at the dock of the county seat. After taking a few photos, he looked through the photos, but accidentally found several mountains in one photo, which looked like a giant Buddha. The enthusiast circulated the photos to his friends one by one, and many people also said that they looked alike. Later, the photos were posted online, and many photographers came to admire the majestic posture of the giant Buddha. As a result, the giant Buddha, who had been sleeping by the river for thousands of years, finally revealed his true face.

Because of the different angles, distances, places and seasons, the image and charm of sleeping Buddha are also different. In the spring of March, Gui Jiang is shrouded in clouds, and the sleeping Buddha appears and disappears in the ethereal world, adding a bit of charm; In summer, the morning glow reflects the mountains, and the colorful glow is like Buddha's light; The autumn water is the same as the sky, and the reflection is magnificent, clear and realistic. The two buddhas lie side by side in the water on the shore, and the lakes and mountains are in harmony with the reclining Buddha. In winter, the vegetation is yellow, red and green, and sleeping in Buddha is like wearing colorful robes.

As a natural landscape, "reclining Buddha" is extremely rare, has its unique artistic value and embodies the magic of nature. Lying Buddha in Zhaoping is a beautiful scenery in China, and it is also a tourist attraction with aura of heaven and earth in Zhaoping.
