Why did Yongzheng break the ancestral training and choose another place to be a mausoleum?
Because Yong Zhengdi's original tomb was in Qing Dongling, but the place was not so good, Yong Zhengdi didn't like it, so Prince Paiyi chose Qing Xiling as his tomb again. During the period of the emperor shunzhi in Qing Dynasty, the emperor shunzhi ordered the Qing Xiling to be the imperial tomb of the Qing royal family. For Yong Zhengdi, this was an ancestral order, but the Qing Dongling really didn't please Yong Zhengdi. Yong Zhengdi thought it was remote and difficult, and the geomantic omen was not very good, so he didn't want that place to be his own tomb. The emperor's mausoleum is large in scale and the project is also very big, so it should be repaired quickly when the emperor is here. Yong Zhengdi was not young at that time, so it was urgent. Yong Zhengdi sent Prince Yi to find a good place to make his own tomb. Prince Yi searched in many ways and finally determined the location of the Qing Xiling. Yong Zhengdi also invited people to see Feng Shui. That place is really a treasure trove of feng shui. Therefore, Yong Zhengdi had an idea in his heart to build the imperial tomb in the Qing tombs, but wouldn't it be against the ancestral precepts to do so? So Yong Zhengdi is also very embarrassed. Yong Zhengdi therefore asked ministers to discuss the matter. Ministers all know what Yong Zhengdi thinks, so they all want to follow him. After listening to Yong Zhengdi's words, a minister told Yong Zhengdi that the Qing Xiling Mausoleum and the Qing Dongling Mausoleum were far apart, but they were actually a place from a distance, which did not go against the emperor shunzhi's wishes. Yong Zhengdi was very happy after hearing this, so he ordered Prince Yi to start building his own mausoleum with the address of Qing Xiling. Later, after Emperor Qianlong succeeded to the throne, he thought of a solution to this problem. He ordered that his imperial tomb should be built in the Qing Dongling, while his next generation was buried in the Qing Xiling, and then the next generation was buried in the Qing Dongling, and the two generations circulated once, thus respecting both the emperor shunzhi and Yong Zhengdi.
