The first person to stay in Dongling was Shunzhi, and the second was Kangxi. Originally, according to the custom that children follow their fathers, the next Yongzheng should also be buried in Dongling. However, Yongzheng found another way and found a piece of land in Yixian County, Hebei Province. Why did Yongzheng do this? There are many explanations, so I won't go into it. Anyway, you should know that the emperor shunzhi chose Dongling in Qing Dynasty and Xiling in Yongzheng.
Later, Qianlong felt that if his son followed the father system again, then Dongling would have only two emperors, Shunzhi and Kangxi. Qianlong was worried that he would be left out in the cold, and the two emperors, Sai-jo and Sheng-zu. So he stipulated that future generations should be buried separately. Father is in the east and son is in the west. So that neither side will be left out in the cold. Therefore, emperors after the Qing Dynasty chose their eternal land according to this system. By Daoguang, Daoguang's tomb should have been arranged in Dongling, but there were many problems due to the leakage of the tomb. In a rage, Daoguang chose a piece of land near Xiling, so Daoguang's tomb was in Xiling. So the burial system was disrupted. But then the emperor of the Qing Dynasty was either in Dongling or Xiling, and there was no other place.
