Sampu Mountain is about 2 kilometers southwest of Chaozhou, with a height of more than 6 meters and a surrounding area of about 27 kilometers. Mountain is named after mulberry trees in ancient times.
there are grotesque rocks and lush trees on the mountain. There are caves with huge stones hanging over them and various stone forests all over the mountain. Among them, Kanroji, an ancient temple with 7, square meters of huge stones as its natural roof, is famous. There are Zhongli Cave and Ligu Cave. There are marine mushroom-shaped stone forests showing ancient marine landforms, tombs of famous Chaozhou sage Lin Daqin and his mother-in-law, and the newly-built Tropic of Cancer sign tower at the south foot.
Kanroji is located in Lion Rock, which is the only stone kiln temple in our city. The temple is set in a natural stone room, and a huge 7-square-meter volley flies out. It is as flat as a razor, as solid as a rock, and it is a wonder. In 187, Liao Shilin wrote an inscription praising: "In the misty clouds of Kanroji, natural stone chambers are wonderful.".
The gate of the temple is made up of three large stones, and there are still traces of "Yujian Academy" on the gate, and the music stone of "Ganlu Cave" is still there. The tall Maitreya Buddha in the temple is chiseled by rocks, with bare chest and bare arms, smiling and beautiful shape. The local folktale "Meilin Lake sank, and Kanroji yielded rice" refers to this stone Buddha. It is said that in the past, the navel of this stone Buddha could yield rice for monks and tourists to satisfy their hunger, but the rice would not come back because the monks chiseled its navel. There is a spring on the right side of the temple, which is inexhaustible in autumn and winter. It was called "Ganlu Yongquan" in ancient times.
as early as the Ming dynasty, Sangpu Mountain was already a famous tourist attraction. In the seasonal edition of the Ming Dynasty, the poem "Singing in the Middle of the Mountain" said, "You can see all the wonderful places away from the mountain, and there are clouds everywhere. If you leave this day, you should hide and repair the land, so it should be a masterpiece on earth."
Dongshan Lake is located at the eastern foot of Sangpu Mountain, surrounded by mountains on three sides and a valley basin in the middle. There are large and small lakes in the lower part of the basin, and rich hot springs and mineral resources are scattered on the lakeside. Hot spring is a radon spring with high temperature and low concentration of salt and weak radioactivity. The spring water is transparent, colorless and tasteless, which is suitable for tourism and recuperation. The mineral spring is calcium carbonate spring with a water temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, which is suitable for drinking and has curative effects on cardiovascular and digestive diseases.
Because of its beautiful scenery, abundant flowers and fruits, fresh air and hot springs for treating diseases. A sanatorium was established here in 1956, and it has been a good place for cadres and workers everywhere to swim and recuperate.
