Qiuyun Mountain is as famous as Wudang Mountain, and is called "Northern Qiu Yun and Southern Wudang". It is located in Guanwangmiao Township, Xiangning County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province, at the intersection of Luliang Mountain and Wei Fen Graben. The highest place, Yuhuangding, is 1.629 meters above sea level. Qiu Yun is rich in natural resources, human landscape and cultural heritage. There are many places of interest in the scenic area, and the natural landscape is unique and magical.
Qiu Yun is as famous as Wudang Mountain as early as possible, because the Taoist culture in Qiu Yun is prosperous and there are many temples and caves. It is the ancestral hall of the Dragon Sect of Quanzhen religion. The cultures of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, represented by Duobao Lingyan Temple, complement each other and bring together the cultures of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, so it is known as "Qiu Yun in the north and Wudang in the south".
Qiu Yun's cultural landscape and natural resources have become a destination for tourists. In addition to these, Qiu Yun has a unique place, that is, the ancient villages that have been completely preserved for 11,000 years on the mountain are rare cave groups in southern Shaanxi, and the most famous one is the ancient village of Talpo with a history of more than 2,500 years, also known as the "living fossil of thousand-year-old residential buildings".
Qiu Yun has been the holy land of Taoism since ancient times, and there is a ancestral hall where Quanzhen Sect of Longmen Sect started, so the existence of ancient villages here is more or less related to Taoist culture, especially the ancient village of Talfu. More than 2,500 years ago, when I traveled around the world in Li Er, I lived here and got the name Taierpo. I heard that Lao Tzu once lived here, and later Taoism became famous. Seeing that this land of geomantic omen was very suitable for the Qing Dynasty, I practiced in the nearby mountains, lived next door to the local villagers and gradually became a village.
Taoism in Qiu Yun is flourishing day by day. The Dragon Sect of Quanzhen Sect established its ancestral hall in Yu Lian Cave on the northern slope of Talpo Village, and then established the Wulong Palace at the foot of Talpo Mountain. Until now, there are still relics on Qiuyun Mountain. 1932, the then director of Wulong Palace decided to sell all the Tarpo properties in Taoist Temple to local villagers in order to donate money to help students solve the urgent need of funds shortage in Qiu Yun Academy. Out of awe of the three nearby pagodas, the villagers renamed Tarpo, which has been in use ever since.
The ancient village of Tarbu that we see now is built on the mountain, with crystal clear spring flowing down from the high mountain in front of the village, and the back of the village is backed by the tall and straight main peak of Qiu Yun, and the Yu Lian Cave Taoist Temple stands in the ventral rock above the ancient village. Talpo ancient village has more than 20 courtyards. The architectural form of houses here is quite different from some ancient villages we have seen. They not only follow the characteristics of ancient stone buildings, but also make full use of natural landforms.
The buildings in the ancient village of Tarbu are arranged in a stacked way. Most of the buildings are caves with stone vaults, but some caves and earth caves excavated by mountains are also preserved. There are caves, arches, stone and wood tile houses, and various architectural forms, which are known as "living fossils of ancient houses of thousands of years".
Before we walked into the ancient village, the tour guide joked that the ancient village of Talpo was a village where thieves were worried when they came in. We wondered why. After entering the ancient village, we found that the tour guide was not joking. There are more than 20 courtyards here, all of which are courtyards, and caves lead to caves. Some courtyards are connected by back channels, which have strong defense functions and private spaces, forming a maze-like architectural form.
It's easy to get lost when walking in the ancient village, and there are secret passages between the courtyards here. In the past, villagers put valuables in the depths of secret passages. After the thief came in, he not only couldn't find anything valuable, but also got lost easily. No wonder before we walked into the ancient village, the tour guide joked that the ancient village of Talpo was a village where thieves were worried when they came in.
