Where is Zhou's residence?

Zhou's former residence is a cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu Province.

Zhou's former residence (commonly known as ninety-nine and a half rooms) is located on the west side of Caohetou in the urban area. It was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu Province from 65438 to 0995. Zhou's former residence was built in Xianfeng period of Qing Dynasty, with a construction area of nearly 2,900 square meters. The whole building complex is arranged according to four axes, and consists of 14 courtyards, each of which is composed of 10 courtyards. There are various halls, offices, rooms, wells, gardens and rockeries in the house. The whole building complex is made of blue bricks and tiles, with exquisite construction technology, exquisite wood carving, brick carving and stone carving, ranking first among the existing ancient houses in Taizhou.

The original owner of Zhou's former residence was a local wealthy businessman. After the decline of the Zhou family, the mansion was sold to Wu Xipeng, the Guangdong salt envoy who retired to Thailand at that time, and Wu Xipeng moved his family to Zhou Mansion. I think that the bad feng shui of some buildings in this house at that time was one of the reasons that led to the decline of Zhou family, so I decided to re-plan the expansion. During the expansion, the original gate was demolished and the orientation of the gate was changed to the southeast. A gazebo was added in front of the door, a hall was added, and a new garden was opened on the west side, forming the first mansion in Taizhou with four axes of east and west and complete residential gardens, called ninety-nine and a half rooms.

After liberation, the property rights of Zhou's residence became state-owned and became institutions, schools and residential buildings. From June 5, 2008 to February 2009, Taizhou officially started the renovation project of Zhou's former residence. The transformation strictly follows and implements the principle of "not changing the original appearance", ensuring the original flavor and repairing the old as the old. At present, the decoration has been basically completed.
