Although Shaoxing is well-known, many tourists generally prefer to choose the famous surrounding places such as Hangzhou, Suzhou, and Wuzhen. Shaoxing was not originally on my travel list. But when we were in Hangzhou and discussing where to go next, we unexpectedly discovered that it only takes 15 fast RMB and ten minutes to get from Hangzhou to Shaoxing by high-speed train, so we unanimously agreed to make Shaoxing our next stop.
Before going there, my impression of Shaoxing was only in the memory of Lu Xun and his works of Kong Yiji and Baicao Garden. I only wanted to go there to see these things, so I would definitely spend one day there. It was enough, but in the end we stayed for three days, and I secretly made a wish in my heart: If I have time and the opportunity to stay here for more than a month in the future, it would be great to savor every corner of Shaoxing.
After going there for three days, I realized how superficial my previous understanding of it was, and how deeply I fell in love with such a quiet but profound town.
Shaoxing gives me the feeling that it is quiet and heavy, steady and powerful, fresh and comfortable, secular yet elegant. She looks like a graceful and dignified woman from the Jiangnan water town, and also like a wise old man who always shines with true knowledge.
The flowing water flows quietly here, and the ancient stone bridges quietly wait here, waiting for the sunrise and sunset, waiting for the flowers to bloom and fade, waiting for every ray of sunshine, waiting for every drop of rain, waiting for every people. Here, it is not as quiet as a tourist city. Except for the Lu Xun Former Residence and Shen Garden, which have many tourists, you can often enjoy the beautiful scenery alone.
You can hold an oil-paper umbrella alone, step on the clean stone road, and quietly appreciate the unique and beautiful scenery of Jiangnan: thousand-year-old trees, old houses from the Republic of China, awning boats, stone bridges, The meandering river... you will wonder if you will meet the beauty Xi Shi from thousands of years ago, or a lilac-like girl holding an oil-paper umbrella like you.
This place has a rich history. It was the center of the Yue Kingdom in history, leaving behind the famous story of hiding one's courage while hiding one's salary;
This place gave birth to almost countless people. The names of each of them can be heard in the sky, and they have left a lasting mark on Shaoxing and China. They can be described as outstanding people and geomantic treasures; from Dayu in ancient times to Gou Jian and Xi Shi in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period to the famous calligraphers of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. From Wang Xizhi to Lu You in the Song Dynasty, Tang Wan to Lu Xun, Cai Yuanpei, Qiu Jin in modern times... countless celebrities were born and grew up here.
Here, you can see the authentic Jiangnan city life, with clothes floating in the air, coal stove smoke blowing in the wind, chatting, smoking, listening to Peking opera, and washing clothes in front of the houses near the river. The picture... You will feel that the hustle and bustle outside has nothing to do with this place, and time seems to have stopped here.
1. Take a stroll around the historical district. Shaoxing has a long history and is a typical water town in the south of the Yangtze River. Except for Shen Garden, which requires admission, other ancient city features are open, and historical and traditional neighborhoods and modern living neighborhoods blend seamlessly. It is very pleasing to spend half a day or a day or two slowly walking around the streets and alleys, feeling the humanities, history and urban customs of Shaoxing, and quietly admiring the scenery of small bridges and flowing water in the south of the Yangtze River.
There are three main historical districts in Shaoxing. One is Lu Xun’s hometown district. This district is not long, but it is the busiest and busiest with the most tourists. The famous Xianheng Hotel and Restaurant is nearby; the other is Cangqiao Zhi District. Street Block is a long and narrow street, about one or two kilometers in length. There are some sparse tourists and not many shops. It is relatively quiet. Most of the houses on both sides are occupied by local elderly people, which better displays the original style of Shaoxing; One is the hometown neighborhood of the sage of calligraphy. The former residence of the sage of calligraphy, Wang Xizhi, is located here. There are also the former residence of Cai Yuanpei and other academies. It has fewer tourists and is quieter.
I like the architecture of Shaoxing very much. They have blue tiles, cornices, white walls and wooden windows. The eaves often have beautiful curves sliding towards the sky. They are stacked layer by layer. The top is the vast sky, which is well-proportioned. , the combination of reality and reality gives people a very clean, elegant, quiet and calm feeling.
2. Take a ride on a awning boat.
Shaoxing is a typical water town in the south of the Yangtze River. The river meanders in the city of Shaoxing. The awning boats on the river are a beautiful scenery in Shaoxing and an important means of transportation for local people in Shaoxing. “The boat awnings are made of bamboo slices and bamboo silk into a semicircle. There is a bamboo basket in the middle. The leaves look like two semicircles in the middle. After they are made, they are mixed with bituminous coal powder and tung oil. The word "black" is called "Wu" in Shaoxing dialect, which is how the black-topped boat gets its name." /p>
Zhou Zuoren described this in detail in his "Wupeng Boat": "What I want to tell you is not the customs and customs there. That is endless, but you can see it once you go there. You will understand, no need to say more. What I want to say is a very interesting thing, which is a boat. You usually take rickshaws, trams, or cars in my hometown. None. Except for the use of sedan chairs in the city or on the mountains, boats are generally used for transportation. There are two types of boats. The most common ones are "black-awned boats". The ones with white awnings are mostly used for sailing. Take a night boat to Xiling 3 It’s also very interesting to go, but you can’t sit down easily, so I don’t have to talk about it.”
Now I go to Shaoxing and sit on a awning boat, swaying along while listening to the oars. Passing the sound of water while admiring the scenery on both sides of the strait is another interesting way to visit Shaoxing. You can also enjoy Shaoxing's ancient bridges of various shapes on the water. It is said that there are more than 2,000 ancient bridges in Shaoxing, including semicircular, arc, elliptical, extended-edge, figure-eight, overpass and other arch bridges.
3. Live in an old house. I like old houses. Compared with modern cold high-rise buildings, old houses always give people a warm and tender feeling. There are many different options for accommodation in Shaoxing, many of which are old houses. The more high-end and famous one is Xianheng Hotel, which costs about 700 to 800 yuan; the mid-range one is "Baicao Jingshe", which costs about 300 to 500 yuan; the cheapest and most cost-effective one is the youth hostel - Lu Xun's Hometown Youth Hostel, which costs only 300 to 800 yuan. One or two hundred and one night. These hotels are all close to Lu Xun's former residence, making it very convenient and quick to visit scenic spots.
My personal favorite is the Longshan No. 57 Courtyard inn located in the back street of Longshan. Both the inn itself and the location are very good. The inn itself was renovated from an old house. I heard from the boss that it was formerly a temple, and the government did not allow changes to the large frame. It took a lot of effort to renovate it. The overall appearance and frame were left over from the previous old house, and they were matched with each other. The several hundred-year-old trees next to it look very peaceful.
The location of the inn is also wonderful. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with a gurgling river on one side. There happens to be a stone bridge on the river. You can reach the inn by crossing this stone bridge from Cangqiao Straight Street and sit on it. It is a very pleasant thing to do nothing in the lobby of the inn and just watch the river flow slowly by. Occasionally, pedestrians walk across the bridge or a awning boat sails slowly by;
On the other side of the inn is a small park by the river. Walking up the steps a little further, you will find a road ringing the mountain with big trees on both sides. On the other side of the road is Fushan Mountain, and the whole surrounding is green. If When the weather is not very hot, walking along the road or hiking in the mountains is also a good choice.
4. Take a sip of Shaoxing rice wine. Shaoxing rice wine is very famous and has a long history. It is the most famous rice wine producer in China. According to people who have tasted it, it is rich, mellow and has great staying power. There are rice wine sellers in the streets and alleys, and the prices vary. If you like drinking, drink Shaoxing rice wine, put aside the busy past, and let yourself be deeply immersed in the gentle countryside of Shaoxing. After all, it is rare to get drunk several times in life.
Others: East Lake Scenic Area, Keyan Scenic Area, Lanting Scenic Area, Anchang Ancient Town, etc.
1. Many scenic spots in Shaoxing close at 5 p.m. If you want to visit, you can order in advance Time has passed;
2. Lu Xun’s former residence does not require tickets, you only need to bring your ID card to visit; Shen Garden tickets are 40;
3. Arrival transportation: you can take a direct train to Shaoxing; also You can take a train or plane to nearby cities such as Hangzhou or Shanghai, and then transfer to Shaoxing. Shaoxing has two train stations. Shaoxing North Station is a high-speed rail station. You can take BRT1 or 3 to Lu Xun's Former Residence Scenic Area. Shaoxing Station is an ordinary train station. ;
