Nanjing Forbidden City, the blueprint of the Forbidden City in Beijing, is the first unified dynasty palace in Nanjing history, which is located on the north and south sides of Zhongshan East Road today. After Qing Ji (Nanjing) was captured by Zhu Yuanzhang, the emperor of Ming Dynasty, it was changed to Yingtianfu.
In order to be emperor, Zhu Yuanzhang "ordered Liu Ji and other places to be designated as new palaces" and finally selected this land as a treasure trove of geomantic omen. According to legend, Zhu Yuanzhang recruited 200,000 military and civilian craftsmen to fill the Yanque Lake and "rebuild the new city". It was built in the 26th year of Yuan Zheng Zhi (1366) and basically completed in the 25th year of Ming Hongwu (1392).
