Shawei Natural Village, Shuikou Village, Huodao Town, is the most remote mountain village in Huodao Town. In front of the village is the fast-flowing Xinxing River. In the early 1970s, Gaoyao built a Shawei Bridge over 3 meters wide there. Due to the narrow bridge deck, heavy trucks could not pass. In May 2006, a severe flood washed away the two middle piers of the bridge, leaving the bridge deck broken and impassable.
Although the Gaoyao City Transportation Bureau promptly opened ferries in the Xinxing River section to solve the problem of people and vehicles passing on both sides of the strait. Later, Gaoyao City spent 5.2 million yuan and spent 10 months to complete the reconstruction of the bridge more than 300 meters downstream from the old bridge. The newly built Shawei Bridge is 200 meters long and 7.5 meters wide. It looks majestic in the remote mountainous area.
Yu Niangniu, secretary of the Shuikou Village branch, said excitedly: "With the Shawei Bridge, the roads in remote villages have been smoothed. Timber from the mountains has been continuously transported out of the mountainous areas, and the rural economy has developed rapidly."
It is understood that in addition to the 17 rural bridges built in the past two years, the bridges currently under construction in Gaoyao City include the Jiangbian Village Bridge in Jinli Town, the Zhudongdou Village Bridge, and the Jindu Yaogang Village Bridge that is being prepared for construction. bridge.
