What is the reason for dry lips?

Many people feel that their lips are dry, and then they will lick their lips unconsciously. In fact, this is not correct. To treat dry mouth, we must first understand the causes of dry mouth. Let's have a look.

What is the reason for dry lips?

Dry mouth, usually the manifestation of chronic cheilitis, can be improved by diet and health care and changing bad habits. If you are thirsty, be alert to whether you have high blood sugar and see a doctor in time.

Many people will lick their lips unconsciously because they feel that their lips are dry and chapped, and the result is often counterproductive. The symptoms of chapped lips are aggravated, and even the lips are swollen and bleeding. In fact, the above symptoms are generally typical manifestations of chronic cheilitis.

Chronic cheilitis is a chronic non-specific inflammatory lesion of the lip, which is mostly caused by various long-term and continuous stimuli, such as dryness, cold, using inferior lipstick or lipstick that can't be erased all the time, especially related to bad habits such as licking and biting lips. When licking your lips with your tongue, the water brought by saliva will not only evaporate rapidly, but also take away a little water from your lips, resulting in a vicious circle of dryness and licking, and even lead to pigmentation on the skin of the corners of your mouth.

The easy scab of lips is also related to the bad habit of licking lips. Because saliva contains a variety of digestive enzymes, after the saliva on the lips evaporates, the macromolecular protein will remain on the lips, and together with the exfoliated cells on the lips, it will form a scab. Because the tissue under the scab skin is incomplete, if it is torn off forcibly, it will cause more local exudation, thus forming more scab skin.

If severe thirst occurs and drinking water has no effect, it should be caused by physical problems or endocrine disorders, especially hyperglycemia. Once such symptoms appear, it is recommended to go to the hospital to test blood sugar index and renal function.

Chapped lips can't be licked.

Experts believe that dry lips should first look for reasons from their own bodies, such as whether they often eat food that is easy to get angry. Do you usually drink less water and conduct targeted conditioning after analysis? For example, add some fruits and vegetables containing vitamin B2, such as oranges, carrots and other yellow fruits and vegetables, usually drink more water and eat less spicy and barbecue foods.

Chapped lips can't be licked with tongue, so use moisturizing lipstick correctly. There are so many kinds of lip balm on the market that people don't know how to choose. In fact, as long as you choose basic moisturizing ingredients such as glycerin, you can choose lip balm containing vitamin E. It is recommended to choose colorless lipstick with less irritating ingredients as much as possible.

Don't use lip balm too often, usually 1~3 times a day is enough. Because excessive use will reduce the barrier ability of lips and the secretion of sebaceous glands, once you leave lip balm, your lips will feel drier.

It is best to use it before going out, applying lipstick and going to bed. Lips are particularly dry, so you can apply lip balm immediately after eating or drinking water. After painting, gently press your lips with a soft tissue to double the effect.

Need to be reminded that after getting a dry flap, don't tear your lips with your hands. You can cut with small scissors to avoid tearing your lips. The correct way is to apply a hot towel to your lips for 3-5 minutes, then gently brush off the dead skin on your lips with a soft brush, and finally apply lip balm.
