Is evading the numbers "4" and "13" a modern real estate feng shui?

Mr. Wang, who has not worked in Jinan for a long time, recently told reporters that he found that many office buildings do not have four floors, 13 floors and 14 floors. Because I didn't know before, I was confused several times when I was moving mineral water for my customers. The reporter visited and found that most of the newly-built communities do not have Building No.4, 13 and 14. According to relevant sources, the evasion of "4" and "13" in the real estate industry has begun to rise in recent years.

The reporter saw in a newly-built office building on Jingyi Road that the buttons on the 4th floor, 13 floor, 14 floor and 18 floor in the elevator were replaced with "3A", "12A", "15B" and "/kloc" respectively. For example, the 1 room on the 13 floor is marked as "12A0 1", which is very similar to the sign "120 1" on the12 floor. It is understood that many people who don't know the difference between "3A" and "3" go the wrong way when they arrive at the office building. The reporter visited several newly-built residential areas and found that there were other building numbers, but there were no building 4, 13, 14 and so on. Different from the habit of replacing "4" with "3A" on office floors, these communities generally do not look for alternative symbols, but skip "4" directly.

Lian, a senior builder, said that the real estate industry in our city began to avoid the number "13" in recent years, which generally did not exist in early residential quarters and high-rise buildings. As for the reasons for evading these figures, a real estate developer said that in recent years, buildings and floors with numbers such as "4" and "13" are generally difficult to sell and rent. Because "4" is homophonic with "death" and "14" is homophonic with "death", "13" is an unlucky number in western tradition.

The reporter found that different people often have different views on the real estate industry's evasion of figures such as "13". Ms. Wei, who works in a consulting company, believes that this is a modern real estate feng shui and conforms to international practice. Mr. Su, who works in a public institution, believes that the practice of seeking luck by avoiding numbers is not worthy of recognition, especially for public buildings. Some people think that this practice has little impact on residents' work and life, and does not bring inconvenience to government departments such as management, so it can develop naturally.

Even the introduction, the national building standards or codes do not force or prohibit the change of "4" and other figures. Avoiding these figures is just a measure taken by developers or property management. It is understood that Guangzhou, Dongguan and other places have begun to implement new regulations that do not avoid numbers such as "4", requiring that building floors must be numbered in the order of natural numbers, and jumping numbers, missing numbers or other signs are not allowed. The reporter consulted the relevant departments of the city and learned that at present, the city has not prohibited the real estate industry from evading "4" and other figures, but relevant people believe that not all property buyers are allergic to the so-called "unlucky figures" and developers should truly integrate with the international community. The focus should be on housing quality, timely performance of service commitments and price transparency.
