The origin of the name Cicheng Town

Cicheng was built in the Spring and Autumn Period 2,500 years ago by King Goujian of Yue. The city is located in Wangjiaba, southwest of Cicheng.

Historically known as "Juyu" and "Juzhang".

In the twenty-sixth year of Tang Kaiyuan (738), Qi Han, the interviewer, petitioned the imperial court to set up another Mingzhou (Ningbo) in the eastern part of Yuezhou, and the original Juzhang place below Mingzhou was set up. county.

The imperial court appointed Fang Guan, the grandson of the famous prime minister Fang Xuanling, as the first county magistrate.

Magistrate Fang traveled through the mountains and rivers of Juzhang and chose the land of today's Cicheng where Kowloon plays the Pearl as a geomantic treasure to move the county seat.

Climbing Fubi Mountain in the north of Cicheng, when he looked at the towering Dong Xiaozi Temple under Kan Peak in the northeast, he couldn't help but feel awe at Dong An (the famous Confucian Dong Zhongshu VI in the Han Dynasty). Moved by Sun Yat-sen's deeds of "drawing water to serve his mother", he changed the name of the county to "Cixi".

Later, people used to refer to Cixi County as "Cicheng" for short.

Although the title "Cicheng" appeared in the writings of literati in the Song and Yuan Dynasties and in the historical records of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Cicheng was still officially referred to as "Cixi", "county seat", "Yicheng", "Yicheng", County government".

People in the four townships of Cixi call Cicheng "Cixi", "Chengcheng" and "Chengxiang".

People outside the county call Cicheng "Cixi", "Cixi County Seat", "Cixi County Government" and "Cixi City".

During the Republic of China, Cicheng was divided into two towns, Xiaodong and Xiaoxi, which were later merged into one and called "Xiaozhong Town".

Cicheng, the county seat, is the heart of Cixi County.

From 738 AD to 1954, it has gone through more than 1,200 years of ups and downs.

Many nicknames and common names have also been produced, such as "Cishui", "Xishang", "Xiaoxi", "Xiaoshui", "Sanxiaoxiang" and so on.

In October 1954, the seat of Cixi County was moved to Sanbeihu Mountain. Cicheng, the original seat of Cixi County, was renamed "Cixi Town", and later "Cixi Town", which is still in use today.
