The textbook Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, edited by Yin Huihe, explains: "Wind evil is the main evil of six evils, and all kinds of evils such as cold, dampness, dryness and heat are attached to the wind and invade the human body, such as exogenous wind-cold, wind-heat and rheumatism, so wind evil is often the forerunner of exogenous diseases."

The understanding of "wind is the source of all diseases" by various schools can be summarized as follows: wind evil is the first of six exogenous evils; Wind evil is the forerunner of exogenous factors; Wind evil is often accompanied by other evil spirits; There are various diseases and syndromes caused by pathogenic wind. The similarity of these understandings lies in that the "wind" in "wind is the root of all diseases" refers to the wind evil caused by exogenous six evils. The author thinks that this view seems to be problematic. "All diseases" should include all exogenous diseases and internal injuries. Since it is clearly stated in Neijing that "wind is the length of all diseases", then "wind" should also be the length of exogenous diseases and internal injuries, so "wind" should not only refer to the wind with exogenous pathogens and six evils, but also include internal wind. In a word, "external wind is the length of exogenous factors" and "internal wind is the length of internal injuries and miscellaneous diseases", "wind is the length of all diseases".

External wind is the length of exogenous diseases.

External wind mainly refers to wind evil caused by exogenous six evils, which is caused by abnormal climate change in four seasons and excessive or insufficient atmosphere. Wind is the main air of spring, but it can be seen all year round. If the qi of the four seasons is too high or not as high, or if there is qi sometimes, it can invade the body and form exogenous diseases. External wind causes a wide range of diseases, which can damage the meridians on the muscle surface and the intestinal tendons inside. The common diseases in clinic are as follows.

Invasion of muscle surface by wind pathogen is the barrier of human body, which leads to disharmony between Wei and Qi, imbalance between opening and closing, and imbalance between Ying and Wei. If wind is the only evil, it can be seen that sweating produces evil, stuffy nose and retching. And choose Guizhi decoction to relax muscles and dispel wind, and reconcile camp and health; If cold pathogens are mixed at the same time, symptoms such as aversion to cold, anhidrosis and limb pain can be seen. Mahuang Decoction can be used to relieve exterior symptoms by sweating and dispel wind and cold. If accompanied by heat pathogen, symptoms such as slight aversion to cold, cough and low body temperature can be seen. Sangju drink should be used to dispel wind and relieve exterior syndrome. If accompanied by dampness, symptoms such as aversion to cold and fever, and soreness of limbs are common. Jiuwei Qianghuo Decoction should sweat, dispel wind and remove dampness.

Wind evil enters the lung, wind evil enters the lung system, lung qi is lost, and the throat and nose are unfavorable. If the wind is too cold, common symptoms, such as aversion to cold, fever, anhidrosis, cough with thin phlegm, nasal congestion and runny nose, can be used to relieve cough, dispel wind, spread the lung, resolve phlegm and relieve cough; If the wind and heat are excessive, symptoms such as fever, slight aversion to wind and cold, cough and sore throat can be seen, and Yinqiao Powder can be used to dispel wind and penetrate the exterior, clear away heat and detoxify; If the wind is too dry, we can choose Sangxing Decoction or Su Xing Powder to dispel wind and moisten dryness according to the dry temperature.

When wind pathogen invades muscle abscess, and wind pathogen fights with defensive qi on the skin surface, rubella, rash addiction, skin itching, or patchy rash, or even eczema can be seen. Authentic surgical Xiaofeng Powder can be used to dispel wind and nourish blood, clear heat and dry dampness.

When wind evil invades the skin of meridians, the meridians are empty, the skin of meridians is blocked by qi, and the skin of meridians is malnourished, it is common that the mouth and eyes are skewed, the tongue is too strong to speak, the hands and feet can't move, the skin is numb, and sometimes there are symptoms such as aversion to cold and fever. The prescription is Da Longdan Decoction, which can dispel wind and clear heat, nourish blood and promote blood circulation.

The combination of wind-cold, dampness or heat can invade bones and joints and block meridians and qi and blood. Therefore, symptoms such as wandering pain, unfavorable flexion and extension, and limited activity can be seen. Fangfeng decoction or Juanbi decoction can be used to dispel wind and dredge collaterals, dispel cold and remove dampness.

Feng Shui fights against wind evil attacking the exterior, the lung qi is blocked, the declaration is abnormal, the waterway is dereliction of duty, the water can't go down to the kidney and bladder to be gasified, and the eyelids are swollen, even the limbs are swollen, the cold is hot, the limbs are sore, and urination is unfavorable. Therefore, surgical soup should be added to treat diseases such as Synopsis of the Golden Chamber, expelling wind and clearing heat, promoting blood circulation and dredging lung.

The wind entering the intestinal fu-organs with damp-heat is exogenous wind evil, mixed with damp-heat, smothering the large intestine meridian, damaging the yin collateral, and damaging the yin collateral with blood overflow. Therefore, there are clinical symptoms such as "intestinal wind", bleeding before defecation and sudden color. Sophora japonica powder or Sophora japonica pill can dispel wind and regulate qi, clear intestine and stop bleeding.

Internal wind is the length of internal injury and miscellaneous diseases

The internal wind is different from the external wind and does not belong to the category of six evils. Endogenous wind has two meanings: first, endogenous wind is the internal movement of ethos, which belongs to "endogenous five evils" and is the concept of pathogenesis, mainly referring to the pathological state of yin imbalance, disharmony between qi and blood in internal organs and Yang Qi's hyperactivity. It usually includes four types: liver yang transforming into wind, extreme heat generating wind, yin deficiency generating wind and blood deficiency generating wind. In addition, the long-term accumulation of pathological products such as blood stasis and phlegm turbidity will also block the circulation of qi, leading to the poor operation of yang qi and internal wind. Second, it refers to the names of specific diseases. Ye proposed that "internal wind is the change of internal yang" in Clinical Guide and Medical Records. In the human body, yang is constantly running in the five zang-fu organs, and excessive and unfavorable changes of yang in the five zang-fu organs can produce endogenous wind. Therefore, "Su Wenfeng Lun" recorded diseases such as heart wind, liver wind, spleen wind, lung wind, kidney wind and stomach wind.

Liver yang turns to wind, liver and kidney yin deficiency, water does not contain wood, floating yang does not dive, liver yang is hyperactive, and even yang turns to wind, and wind-driven qi and blood are disordered. Therefore, clinical symptoms can be seen, such as dizziness, numbness and tremor of limbs, and even sudden fainting, mouth and eyes askew, hemiplegia and so on. Therefore, it is advisable to use Pinggan Xifeng Decoction to nourish yin and subdue yang.

Extremely hot wind, exogenous pathogenic temperature, excessive pathogenic heat, body fluid frying and burning, blood injury, liver meridian burn, common symptoms such as high fever, coma, hand and foot convulsions, convulsions, etc., can be used to cool the liver, increase fluid and relax muscles with antelope horn and hook vine soup.

When wind and heat due to yin deficiency are consumed for a long time, true yin is gradually depleted, tendons and veins are not nourished, and deficiency wind rises internally, and symptoms such as hand and foot peristalsis, mental fatigue, weak pulse, emaciation, five-upset, red cheekbones, night sweats, etc. occur, only Dadingfengzhu or Fumai Decoction can be used to nourish yin and extinguish wind.

Blood deficiency leads to prolonged wind, or acute and chronic blood loss, insufficient blood nourishing, tendon dystrophy, common dizziness, pale face, numbness of limbs, muscle twitching, even paralysis of hands and feet, itchy skin, disdainful claws and nails, etc. Treat siwu decoction, nourish blood and dispel wind.

Blood stasis, phlegm and wind, blood stasis and phlegm and wind are rarely mentioned in clinic, but they do exist. Wang Qingren's Lin Yi Gaicuo said: "Stroke hemiplegia is caused by qi deficiency and blood stasis". Yang Renzhai pointed out that blood stasis can lead to stroke and dizziness. In addition, Zhu Danxi said "no phlegm and no dizziness", but both stroke and dizziness are signs of endogenous wind, which is caused by blood stasis and phlegm. Clinically, prescriptions should be selected according to specific diseases and syndromes. For example, Xuefu Zhuyu decoction can cure blood stasis and Wendan decoction can cure phlegm and wind.

Diseases of five zang-organs wind are mainly found in Su Wenfeng's Lun, but also scattered in Su Wen's Lun on Fever and Su Wen's Lun on Atmosphere. Although Neijing does not give a specific treatment prescription for each wind disease, it records the specific symptoms of each wind disease in detail. For example, the symptoms of spleen wind are "sweating, aversion to wind, laziness, immobility of limbs, thin and yellow color, and yellow color on nose", which is very similar to the symptoms described in Treatise on Febrile Diseases and can be treated with Guizhi Decoction.
