Why does the old saying "if you are not alone, you will be widowed"?

In the 5,000-year history of China, our ancestors compiled thousands of old folk sayings for us with their own personal life experiences, especially in rural areas, which have influenced people's lives and blended into our blood.

There are profound truths behind many old sayings, such as "Never plant mulberry before, never plant willow after, never plant ghosts and clap your hands in the courtyard", "Better sleep in a deserted grave than stay in an ancient temple" and "Never be lonely before". These are not superstitious sayings, but the crystallization of the wisdom of our ancestors.

There is an old saying in the countryside called "not alone". What does it mean? In fact, this means that rural housing is exquisite. Literally, it is easy to understand that when building a house, the front of the house should not be too high, especially when there are mountains in front. Don't be too low behind the house, such as a depression or a cliff behind the house. Living in such a house for a long time will have a great impact on the family. "Loneliness or widowhood" may be a bit serious, but it is also a warning.

"The front is high and the back is empty" refers to the feng shui of the house layout. Many people think it is superstition when they see the word "feng shui", but it is not. Don't think so complicated about Feng Shui. Simply understood as two points: wind direction and water source. Wind direction and water source affect people's health. If they are in poor health, they will easily get sick, and the family will naturally be in trouble. And if you are healthy and not sick, your family will be more and more blessed.

Then why can't the house be high in the front and empty in the back? The first is poor ventilation. Most houses in China face south, especially in the countryside. As we all know, the southeast wind blows more in summer and the northwest wind blows more in winter. If the back of the house is hollow and the front is high, the northwest wind blowing in winter will directly impact the house if it is not stopped. The cold wind is blocked by the mountain in front of the house, which is easy to form backward flow, and the house will be cold and humid. And the high mountain in front of the house blocks the sun. Living in such a house in winter will be particularly wet and cold, and it is easy to breed germs. In the long run, people get sick easily. Therefore, a house with a high front and an empty back is very unhealthy from the perspective of ventilation.

Similarly, the southeast wind blowing in summer will also be blocked by the mountain in front of the door. If the wind can't get in, the house will be very hot and humid. So no matter in winter or summer, don't build houses in front or behind.

Apart from ventilation, living in it makes people feel insecure. For example, when we decorate a room, we usually put the sofa against the wall and sit with our back against the wall, which can give people a sense of security invisibly. If the sofa is placed in the middle of the living room and the distance behind it is large, it will often make people feel insecure, which is recognized by psychology.

It makes sense to build a house and put an indoor sofa. If it is near the mountains and water, or on the great plains, people will feel at ease. And if the front of the house is a mountain and the back is a depression, living in it is like sitting on a sofa without walls, and there will always be insecurity behind it.

In fact, not only rural areas, but also urban communities are mostly high-rise. If there is a higher building in front of a building, it will generally make people feel depressed, and it will block the light, and the room will become cold, which is not conducive to people living for a long time. This is another kind of "high before and low after".

Of course, "not only being widowed" is a bit serious, but it does have an impact on the health of family members living in it, which is naturally not a good thing in the long run. These rural old sayings are actually the experience summed up by our ancestors for thousands of years. They are not superstitious, but sometimes they may be said in a mysterious way to warn future generations, so as to achieve the warning effect.
