Excuse me, what does Huang Wu mean?
China Jiangnan folk Dragon Boat Festival has the custom of eating "Huang Wu". "Huang Wu" refers to Monopterus albus, yellow croaker, cucumber, salted duck eggs and realgar wine. There are other sayings that salted duck eggs can be replaced by soybeans. Legend has it that in The Legend of the White Snake, the White Snake drinks realgar wine, showing its original shape. Therefore, people think that poisonous insects such as snakes, scorpions and centipedes can be cracked with realgar wine. Drinking realgar wine on Dragon Boat Festival can drive away evil spirits and detoxify, which is beneficial to health (modern science proves that drinking realgar wine is easy to be poisoned). According to folklore, eating Huang Wu at noon can better ward off evil spirits.
