Who's Wang Erlie? A Brief Introduction to the Life of Wang Erlie, a Kanto Wit in Qing Dynasty

Wang Erlie (1727- 180 1), alias Zhong Fang, whose real name is Wu Jun, is from Yaofeng. Born in Henan Province, he was born in Fengshuigou Village (now Fengshuigou Village, Lanjia Town) of Jiajiapuzi, Liaoyang County during the reign of Qing Qianlong and Jiaqing. Known for his poetry, calligraphy and clever eloquence, he was a "Kanto gifted scholar" in Ganjia period. Liaoyang County Records called him "a contemporary master of Ci-Han calligraphy and the first person in Qing Dynasty".

16 years old, poetry and calligraphy have become a household name. At the age of 26, she took the children's exam in Quanzhou, and as a result, she was admitted to the Eight Public Students (Scholar). At the age of 39, accompanied by his good friend Chang Ji, he went to Beijing to take the imperial examination, but failed. At the age of 44, he climbed to the top of the mountain again, took the Cohen test in the capital with confidence, and was admitted to Gong Shi. After passing the imperial examination, I am China Erji Jinshi. At this point, my long-cherished wish has been tasted. The Qing court appointed him as the editorial assistant of imperial academy.

Smart when you are young.

According to the staff of Wang Erlie Memorial Hall in Liaoyang, there is a legend in Liaoyang that when Wang Erlie's great-grandfather was repairing the Kuixing Tower, he specially aimed the tip of the Kuixing Tower at the direction of the geomantic ditch in his hometown in an attempt to point out a champion among his people. As God wishes, Wang Erlie's grandfather Wang Tianlu and his three uncles are all officials of the imperial court.

In the fifth year of Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty (1727), the ancient city of Liaoyang was a scene of peace and prosperity. Just after the fifteenth day of the first month, Wang Jin, who was then in Zheng Xue, Zhili, heard the good news of adding your son.

Wang Erlie's father, Wang Jin, was knowledgeable, and Wang Erlie began his enlightenment education under the influence of his father in his childhood. Influenced by his father (Wang Jin, Zheng Xue, China), he received a strict education since childhood, and his nature was pure and quiet. He loved reading, studied calligraphy and studied hard since he was a child. Wang Jia's family is simple and his family education is strict. Although Wang Jin is away from home all the year round, he has accumulated two rooms of books for his son. Therefore, Wang Erlie is more profound in words and better in poetry. According to historical records, Wang Jin had a close personal relationship with Cao Yin, the grandfather of Cao Xueqin, the author of A Dream of Red Mansions. Cao's family had a wealth of ancient books, which also provided a rich source of knowledge for Wang Erlie. Cui Can, a young teacher in Wang Erlie, was born in Bagong. He learned a lot, which laid a solid foundation for Wang Erlie's childhood education.

According to legend, Cui Can once wrote a couplet in his lecture: "Heaven is a chessboard star, who dares to play?" After the alliance, no one dared to be right. Only young Wang Erlie stood up and answered in a clear voice: "The earth is the string of the Pipa Road, and who can play in this splendid world!" The teacher casually added another couplet: "Wild yellow flowers are like golden nails." Wang Erlie pondered for a while and suddenly saw the White Pagoda in Liaoyang City outside the window. Suddenly, he was full of thoughts and replied, "The White Pagoda in the city is like a jade diamond." Everyone was impressed by Wang Erlie's extraordinary talent. Thus, Wang Erlie is known as "Liaoyang prodigy".

It is said that Wang Erlie will wear a straw hat to play in the yard in winter. A businessman laughed at him for "wearing a winter coat and a summer hat for the Spring and Autumn Festival", but Wang Erlie replied, "Go to the south and escape to the north to fuck things".

Wang Erlie worshipped Haicheng as a teacher when he was a teenager. Because of his cleverness and diligence, he was appreciated by Liu and became more and more knowledgeable.

In the eighteenth year of Qianlong (1753), Wang Erlie took the Liaoyang Children's Examination and obtained the Liaoyang Scholar. After thirty years of Qianlong (1765), he joined the Fengtian provincial government, and the title of Fengtian provincial government was 18 1.

Endure hardships to achieve some ambition.

According to records, in history, the Wang Erlie family has produced more than 30 Jinshi. Under the influence of family, in the 14th year of Qianlong (1749), Wang Erlie studied under Xige School of Longquan Temple in Qian Shan. Since then, Wang Erlie has left his lifelong relationship with Longquan Temple and started a career of "fame and fortune".

Qian Shan Longquan Temple Xige School is located on the artificial platform north of Jingping Peak in Longquan Temple. It is a three-tile building with a long corridor under the eaves, two small pavilions on both sides, rows of roofs and drill tips, and a unique courtyard in the middle. Gao Liping, who is in charge of Wang Erlie studies, said that the West Pavilion was built in in Qin Long in the Ming Dynasty (157 1). Historically, it used to be three thatched huts, and later it was changed to brick-wood structure. After several expansions, it became one of the two major academies in Qian Shan in the Qing Dynasty. Arrived, I saw the bottle peak in front of the pavilion facing each other, and the peak tip was lifted with the pavilion tip; The pavilions are surrounded by thousands of pines, and the wind and waves are ringing, which is beautiful.

In ancient times, Xige was a place where celebrities learned books and splashed ink, and where dignitaries stayed. Every night is quiet, the lights are far away and the shadows are dancing. "Xige Guest Lamp" has gone down in history with its unique charm and has become one of the famous sixteen scenic spots in Longquan. No wonder, after several migrations, Wang Erlie finally chose this pavilion to study intermittently for 22 years. Because of his love for Lingshan Scenic Area, Wang Erlie is crazy and often studies all night, laying a solid foundation for his future fame in China. The west pavilion is located on the precipice, and its room is as narrow as a boat. Every morning, the foggy sea is boundless, and the narrow room is like a boat swimming in the foggy sea, and it is like an island in the foggy sea. In the forty-second year of Qing Qianlong (1777), when Wang Erlie lived in the west pavilion of Longquan Temple, he lit the "West Pavilion Guest Lamp" and named it "Qiongdao Virtual Boat". Longquan Temple is also the place with the largest number of inscriptions in Wang Erlie's life. * * * There are two plaques and six couplets. When you read them today, you can still feel the rich rewards of the author after his success, facing the cold window and facing the place where he studied hard! He gave Qiongdao the title of virtual boat: "The room is as narrow as a boat, with four peaks around the window; The mountain is as deep as an island pine and there is a tide of marine life. "

Examiner Jiangnan

It is said that he could have been the first in the exam, but he ranked fourth in the private education exam. The examiner changed him with Gan Long. When Qianlong saw that the king was very good, he worshipped the king as a "servant" and stayed in the palace to teach the prince. Therefore, there is a saying that "Old Master Q is in the same place, but there are few teachers". Wang Erlie is famous for his family history. I am known as "a gifted scholar in Sanjiang", and my brother is also very famous. In the whole northeast, many of his poems are telling stories.

In April of the thirty-sixth year of Qianlong, Wang Erlie participated in palace examination with the score of 102. Sure enough, he won the second place among the Jinshi, which is a biography after the first place, the second place and Hua Tan. From then on, Wang Erlie began to embark on a real official career until he became a famous minister of Dali Temple.

Wang Erlie went to Jiangnan with Emperor Qianlong for many times, leaving countless beautiful poems. There is also a legendary story, that is, he presided over the Sanjiang (Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Jiangxi) exam-the story of "examiner Jiangnan". At that time, Sanjiang was the most developed area in China, and many talented people in the south of the Yangtze River were arrogant, which often embarrassed examiners. After Wang Erlie arrived in Sanjiang area, he took "learning from time to time" as the theme and ordered the candidates to write three articles in the form of eight-part essay. All the candidates are very difficult and barely get in. The first game is still a chapter, and the second game is unwritten. In the third game, the candidates sighed and looked at each other, and finally splashed ink. After the exam, all the candidates were unconvinced, so they asked Wang Erlie to write three articles by himself. I don't know that Wang Erlie didn't get extra points, but he wrote every word with a brush, and he was a morning star with novel ideas. Everyone was fooled, and he was surprised to ask why the academician's talent was so high. It can be said that talented people are well educated. Wang Erlie wrote another poem, saying, "There are only three talents in the world, and the three rivers are not as good as my hometown. The number of talents in my hometown is my brother, and I will change the article for my brother. "

A gifted scholar in Jiangnan thought that Wang Erlie's article must have been prepared in advance, which was not enough to prove his talent, so he wrote a couplet and posted it on the telephone pole of Wang Erlie's residence, intending to test Wang Hanlin's talent and adaptability with the sudden trend. He said: "Qian Shan in the south of the Yangtze River is full of talented people." When Wang Erlie went out to have a look, he ordered someone to make a couplet with a pen and said, "There are saints in Jiangbei every day." One day this couplet refers to the emperor, the other day it refers to the queen, and the sage is Confucius. Seeing this, the gifted scholar blurted out that "the air is warm in the black veil in the south of the Yangtze River", and Wang Erlie replied that "the wind is not cold in the brocade robe in Saibei". One day, several talented people in Jiangnan invited Wang Erlie to go for an outing in the suburbs, trying to test him. In front of a temple, Chu Lian said, "In a hundred days, ten thousand tiles will be built into a cross temple." At this time, a boat was rocking under the bridge in the river in front of the temple. When Wang Erlie saw this, he said to him, "One boat has two oars, and three people shake the four-hole bridge." Another man went out and said, "Cold wine is one point two point three." Wang Erlie turned to look at a bunch of lilacs blooming by the bridge and blurted out, "There are hundreds of lilacs." At this point, all talented people are amazed at Wang Erlie's cleverness and agility, and Wang Erlie's name has spread all over China with the story of the examinee's "crossing the Three Rivers".

Old age life

In the thirty-eighth year of Qianlong, he was appointed as the editor of Sikuquanshu and the editor of Santong Library, engaged in the compilation of Sikuquanshu. After two years, the Qing court was appointed as the examiner of the Beijing Normal University exam.

In the forty-second year of Qianlong, 50-year-old Wang Erlie invited more than ten people from his hometown to revisit Qian Shan. He wrote in an interview with Qianshan that "there is nothing to eat except food". Out of such a simple tone, Qian Shan Poetry Club is particularly successful. Wang Erlie himself not only got the poem "The mountain is the suzerain country, and the white place is beyond my reach", but also collected more than 60 poems by his poetry friends into a book "Poems of Qian Shan", which was collected by the famous scholar Jin Yufu and handed down from generation to generation. Yao Fengji was specially compiled by Mr. Jin and included in the Three Seas series.

At the age of 54, he was sent to Shaanxi Daojian Yushi, who was responsible for inspecting the coins minted by the Manchu Dynasty there and handling some criminal cases in Shaanxi.

Gan Long is 53 years old, 6 1 year old. Considering that he was past the age of listening to orders, the Qing court transferred him back to Beijing and took the post of Shuntianfu (now Beijing).

In A.D. 1796, Emperor Qianlong abdicated to the 15th Prince Jia, was appointed as a bachelor, and was given a grand banquet, an imperial poem, three pictures of ancient stars and wishful pigeon branches. Qing Pian Yan Jiaqing When Wang Erlie was 72 years old, he became an official in Dali Temple. Because of his advanced age, he retired and returned to Liaodong to teach at Shengjing Shenyang Academy. He died at the age of 74 (six years of Jiaqing 180 1) and was buried at the foot of Nanshan in Fengshuigou Village, Liaoyang County, his hometown.

Beautiful marriage

Beautiful scenery nourishes beautiful people and beautiful water nurtures children. Qianshan not only cultivated Wang Erlie's talent, but also forged a beautiful marriage for Wang Erlie. This marriage was also confirmed in Liaoyang Wang Erlie Memorial Hall.

Wang Erlie grew up with a young girl, Chen Yueqin, but later they parted ways because of her mother. When Wang Erlie was studying in Xige School of Longquan Temple in Qian Shan, she happened to meet her dream lover Chen Yueqin. It turned out that after their marriage failed, Chen Yueqin was hurt by feelings and lost all hope. It happened that her aunt Shi Zixuan was the abbot of Muyu Temple in Qian Shan, so she saw through the world of mortals, cut her hair and came to Muyu Temple to become a monk.

Perhaps because the red rope was not broken, they met again in Qianshan. At first, it was a mixture of sadness and joy, and then it was a smile through tears. The two embraced each other tightly and never separated. After a long time, the master and Shi Zen master saw the clue and invited local celebrities to mediate. Finally, the parents of both sides cleared up their differences, Chen Yueqin returned to the secular world, and the two became friends of Qin Jin, and a marriage finally had a happy ending. Chen Yueqin's grandfather was a famous scholar in Chen Menglei in the Qing Dynasty.

As the first gifted scholar in Kanto, Wang Erlie made a lot of friends in his life, whether it was his mother's ninetieth birthday or his seventieth birthday. From the two birthday screens donated by Wang Erlie's descendants, we can see that many senior officials in Qing Dynasty had deep contacts with him. Ji Yun commented that Wang Erlie stands in the frost forest with graceful bones ... It is carefree and looks like a fairy. For this colleague who has proofread 165 and 367 volumes of Sikuquanshu in detail, in these brief comments, we see a kind of indifference and admiration from a friend of a gentleman.

Liu Yong gave Wang Erlie the poem "The spine is old and pine, and the reputation must be * * * the ancients". In fact, in the process of our field investigation, Wang Erlie's "overwhelming the Three Rivers" is somewhat exaggerated, but most people still prefer to believe those fabricated plots. Today, Wang Erlie is no longer just a person, a name, but a cultural symbol. This symbol may contain all aspects of his existence, learning and being an official. The process of reading Wang Erlie, a genius, is also the time for our descendants to reflect and answer.
