The Prime Minister was terminally ill and arranged everything for himself before he died:
"After my death, don't send out obituary. It can be used as a big niche for my body to sit in; Put seven grains of rice in my mouth; Use bright lights under your feet; The army is still as usual, don't mourn: the stars don't fall. My ghost is from town. -Quoted from Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Later, the Prime Minister wrote a sincere letter to the late ruler Liu Chan. The letter probably means: When the coffin arrives in Chengdu, you must never bury me in Chengdu. You let four strong men carry the coffin south until the rope breaks.
Zhuge Liang believes that Liu Chan's actions are contrary to mine. If I don't let him be buried in Chengdu, he will be buried in Chengdu, which is right. Then I can be reborn. Zhuge Liang thus speculated on Liu Chan's psychology.
However, Zhuge Liang's final plan failed. When his coffin arrived in Chengdu, Liu Chan thought, "I didn't listen to the education of the Prime Minister before his death, and everything was against him." Now that the Prime Minister has died for his country, will I be a man if I don't listen to the Prime Minister?
After Zhuge Liang's death, Liu Chan asked four men to carry Zhuge Liang's coffin south until the rope broke. The four men followed Liu Chan's orders and carried the coffin to the south.
But because the rope tied to the coffin was very strong, the rope did not break when the four men were exhausted. Finally, four people buried the coffin back, and in order to save trouble, they found a job with Liu Chan. Although Liu Chan is not clever, he also knows that the four men can't come back so soon.
Thinking of these people deceiving themselves, Liu Chan finally killed the four men in a rage. After killing the four men, Liu Chan found himself forgetting to ask where Zhuge Liang was buried. And this is exactly what Zhuge Liang intended. When Zhuge Liang was alive, countless people died at his hands, and Zhuge Liang was afraid of being disturbed after his death. So Zhuge Liang made a plan to avoid being dug up, and buried the rope after it was broken.
