Shoushan Stone-There is a small mountain village called Shoushan 40 kilometers north of Fuzhou, Fujian Province. Shoushan stone veins are distributed in the mountains and streams around the village. After the Ming Dynasty, Shoushan stone began to be used as seal material. Shoushan stone is characterized by its clean jade, soft and easy to attack, which is highly appreciated by seal engravers.
Qingtian Stone-In the middle and lower reaches of the Oujiang River in the southeast of Zhejiang Province, there is a county called Qingtian. It is famous for producing Qingtian Yin Shi. Qingtian stone is pure in texture, rich in color and easy to carve. It is favored by stone painters of all ages. Among the many categories of Qingtian stone, Dengguang and Fengmenqing are rare varieties.
Fossil-produced in Yuyan Mountain in the northwest of Zhejiang Province. Because the ancient books in this area belong to Changhua County. Therefore, this stone is named fossil locally. The long Dai stone is beautiful and delicate, which is suitable for printing and making exquisite carvings. Some minerals in Changhua fossils have infiltrated into cinnabar, forming a rare "bloodstone" in the world. Changhua bloodstone is a precious variety in Yin Shi.
Bahrain Stone-In Bahrain Right Banner, 200 kilometers north of Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, there is a mountain called Dahe Mountain, which is famous for producing Yin Shi in Bahrain. The mountain is divided into east and west peaks, the east peak is towering, and the Yin Shi vein runs along the mountainside, with abundant output. Xifeng is a little short, and Yin Shi is psychic. The colors are magnificent, and the best of Bahrain stone mostly comes from here.
People, especially painters, generally praise the above four famous stones. A passage by the poet Guo Feng summed up his feelings for Yin Shi. He said, "I think of the afterglow of the sunset, the morning glow, the silence of the midnight moon, the brightness of the sun, petals, dew and rain."
