How to treat spastic paraplegia in TCM?

Spastic paraplegia is a degenerative disease of nervous system. Pathological changes are mainly axonal degeneration and/or demyelination of bilateral corticospinal tracts in the spinal cord, especially in the thoracic segment. The clinical manifestations are increased muscle tension of both lower limbs, hyperreflexia of tendon, positive pathological reflex and scissors gait.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that flaccidity is most closely related to the kidney, which is the congenital foundation. The congenital endowment of storing essence and producing marrow is insufficient, the essence and qi are insufficient, and qi and blood are insufficient to nourish bones and muscles, so muscle weakness and atrophy will occur. At the same time, the spleen is the foundation of the day after tomorrow, which nourishes blood, nourishes the internal organs, bones and muscles, spleen governs muscles, spleen and stomach are weak, and qi and blood are insufficient, leading to weakness.

For spastic paraplegia, Chinese medicine plus acupuncture has a good effect.
