First, early experience
In the 21st year of Wanli (1593), Hong Chengchou was born in Du Ying, Nan 'an, Quanzhou, Fujian. When he was a child, he went to Yi Xi Pavilion to study. Because of his poor family, he dropped out of school at the age of eleven, helped his mother cook dried beans at home, and went to Yingweibao to sell dried beans every morning.
At that time, Hong, a gifted scholar of Xixuan Changfang, set up a village school in Shuigou Pavilion. While selling dried beancurd, Hong Chengchou often attended classes outside the school gate and occasionally helped students pair up. Hong found that Hong Chengchou was very talented and ambitious, so he took Hong Chengchou as an apprentice for free and returned to school. Hong Chengchou studies hard and reads widely.
Hong's Historical Records, History as a Mirror, The History of the Three Kingdoms, The Art of War and other books have been borrowed by him and carefully studied. From an early age, he expressed his desire to rule the country and level the world, which was very appreciated by Hong. In an article by Hong Chengchou, Hong once criticized the comment that "Ma Qianli is the home and the country is the stone". After studying in Shuigou Pavilion for five years, Hong Chengchou went to Quanzhou Chengbei Academy to study.
Second, personal works
During the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty, Hong Chengchou compiled a volume of 12, A Brief Introduction to Ancient and Modern Appeasement. Later generations also compiled 24 volumes of Hong Chengchou's Chapters, Plays, Books and Records.
In terms of literary creation, Hong Chengchou left his essays, such as Preface to Beihai Ji, Preface to Nan 'an County of Chongzhen and Inscription for Rebuilding Guandi Temple in Shi Jing.
Hong Chengchou didn't like to write poetry, and the only poem he left was Inspector, a five-line poem he wrote when he went south to Huguang in the tenth year of Shunzhi (1653), which read: "Look at the firm but gentle autumn, leaping over Jin Lang. Riding in the clouds, with a wave of your finger. "
