The solution to window air leakage must be found from the reasons:
Cause one: caused by poor material. Plastic steel windows are of better quality and more durable than aluminum alloy. If the material is poor, the windows It will deform after two or three years of use. Once deformed, the sealing performance will be poor and air leakage will occur. Therefore, this also reminds owners to pay special attention to the material when purchasing windows.
Solution: You can only find the window manufacturer to solve the problem or replace the window.
Reason 2: There is a problem with the installation process
Insufficient installation process is also an important factor in determining whether the window leaks air. First of all, the windows must be installed straight, otherwise the windows may become more and more crooked after being used for a period of time, and the gap between the window frame and the wall will become larger and larger. Secondly, when the windows are installed, foam needs to be applied. Fill the gap between the window frame and the wall. After the foam glue has solidified, apply sealant evenly around the window frame to prevent rainwater from seeping into the room through the installation gaps between the window and the wall, and to prevent air leakage. And it needs to be glued on both the inside and outside of the window. Some workers try to save trouble by only applying glue inside, or applying glue at several points inside, and the sealing is not tight. Even if the exterior is covered with styrofoam, it will powder in about a year or a year and a half, causing water leakage in summer and air leakage in winter. In addition, during renovation, if home decoration workers find that the gap between the window frame and the wall is not tightly sealed, they will fill it with putty from the inside. However, over time, a tiny gap will appear, causing air leakage.
Solution: In the first case, you have to find the window manufacturer. If it is just the inside of the window that is not glued properly and the gap is relatively small, you can affix the masking paper yourself and apply sealant into the gap; if there is a problem with the exterior glue, you need to contact a worker to do it.
Reason three: Accessory failure
Another important reason for window air leakage is the failure of the sealing accessory. The most common is the aging and cracking of the sealing strip, which directly leads to the deterioration of the window sealing performance; the other is that the styrofoam is too soft and powders after a few years of use, causing the window frame and wall to become damaged. The gaps between them become larger, causing air leakage.
Solution: You can replace the sealing strip yourself. It is better to use EPDM rubber, or rubber and plastic strips of lower quality can also be used
If you cannot do it yourself, It won't cost too much to replace it with a worker at a small shop that makes plastic steel windows on the street. As for the styrofoam, you need to find a worker
to operate it. After the styrofoam is cured, the owner can pinch it by himself. The quality of the styrofoam will be better if it takes a lot of effort.
