What are the three cooling methods of diesel generator set?

The cooling methods of diesel generator set include air cooling and water cooling.

1, air cooling mode:

Air cooling method uses air as cooling medium to transfer the heat of heated parts of diesel engine. This cooling method consists of a cooling fan and a shroud.

In order to increase heat dissipation neps, many corrugated fins are usually cast on the outer walls of cylinder block, cylinder head and radiator. When working, the fan rotates to make the air flow to the surface of the cylinder block and the cylinder head along the wind guide cover, and when the cold air flows through the heat sink, it takes away the heat paid by the cylinder block and the cylinder head.

The air-cooled cooling system has simple structure and light weight, but the cooling effect is poor. Mostly used in small diesel engines, suitable for water-deficient areas.

2. Water cooling mode:

Water cooling method uses water as cooling medium to transfer the heat of heated parts of diesel engine. The characteristic of this cooling method is that the cooling intensity can be easily adjusted when the temperature or workload changes.

There are two ways of water cooling: open and closed. In the open cooling system, the circulating water is directly communicated with the atmosphere, and the steam pressure in the cooling system is always kept at atmospheric pressure. In a closed system, water circulates in the closed system, and the steam pressure of the cooling system is greater than the atmospheric pressure. With the increase of the temperature difference between the cooling water temperature and the outside air temperature, the heat dissipation capacity of the whole cooling system is improved.
