Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is a magnificent octagonal palace building. The whole building covers an area of about 3700 square meters and is 49 meters high. It consists of four double-eaves palace-style buildings, surrounded by mountains, like four-story dragon ridges, forming a whole, with a huge octagonal pointed roof arched in the center. In the middle of Xieshan Peak with double eaves, there is a painted gold plaque with a blue background and a red edge hanging high, and the four characters of Sun Yat-sen are written on it, which is powerful and powerful.
Under the eaves of the fa? ade, there are eight red terrazzo columns that can be surrounded by three people inside and outside, and the arch supports the ceiling painted with terrazzo, rice bucket arch, bouquet and mosaic patterns, with fine workmanship. Five huge rectangular bronze chandeliers, with heavy ears embedded in the glass, hung in the air in the tall corridor, reflecting the carved Dan door, making the hall more magnificent and antique.
The overall layout of the memorial hall is square, facing south, covering an area of 60,000 square meters and a construction area of about 4,000 square meters. The main building of the memorial hall is an auditorium with a height of 49 meters, which is a palace-style building with reinforced concrete structure. At the top of the memorial hall is the octagonal peak. Red column yellow brick lined with sapphire blue palladium glazed tile cover, majestic and solemn. The beams and columns are decorated with colorful patterns of clan style, resplendent and magnificent.
There is a horizontal plaque above the main entrance of the auditorium, with the words "The world is for the public" inscribed by Sun Yat-sen. The building of the auditorium fully shows the high level of architecture in China. There is not a pillar in the auditorium, but eight pillars supporting the big roof are hidden in the wall, giving people a novel, spacious and bright feeling. The auditorium has two floors of seats and can accommodate 5000 people. The golden dome of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is oval, with a height of 3.79 meters and a diameter of 4.075 meters.
The surface of such a huge golden dome is all inlaid with gold, and * * uses 36 166 high-quality gold foil purchased from Hong Kong, which is equivalent to 0.92kg ... In addition to the Jinding, the plaque of "Tianxiagong", the will of the Prime Minister, the outline of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the font of the cornerstone are all inlaid with gold foil.

The memorial hall adopts wooden pile foundation, steel frame and reinforced concrete structure. The octagonal hall is designed with a steel truss with a span of 30 meters, and the big roof is connected by eight rows of steel trusses. The four corner walls are reinforced concrete shear walls with a thickness of 50 cm to bear the full weight of the roof. The building adopts steel truss cantilever structure, and the floor is poured with reinforced concrete. There is a big oval pillar with a four-fold fold on the roof.
With a span of 30 meters, no column inside, a volume of 50,000 cubic meters and 5,000 seats, this hall was the largest hall building in China at that time, and it was also a bold and successful work that used a large number of traditional architectural forms in China. The architecture of the memorial hall absorbs the excellent elements of traditional architecture in China, and it is magnificent as a whole. This feature is reflected in the detail decoration of the roof eaves.
