The main components of Leihuoshen needle are musk, sulfur, frankincense, pangolin, safflower and so on. These medicinal materials are made into a medicine column with a diameter of 1.5cm. During the treatment, the fire head is wrapped with seven to nine layers of cloth and ironed at the corresponding acupoints to treat wind-cold-dampness arthralgia, pain, flaccidity, deficiency-cold and other symptoms. It is named because the curative effect is as fast as that of Raytheon.
However, pressing the thick head of moxibustion directly can easily burn the patient through the cloth in the bag. To this end, during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, a doctor named Zhao Zhongde in Bishan County of Chongqing made an innovation. He made Vulcan's needle nearly twice as thick and became three centimeters in diameter. After lighting, it does not directly contact the patient's body, but instead hangs moxibustion. In this way, the patient will not be burned, and because the moxibustion body is thick, the firepower is equally fierce and the effect is equally rapid. Zhao Zhongde changed the name of this moxibustion to thunder-fire moxibustion, and since then, thunder-fire moxibustion has been passed down from generation to generation in Zhao family.
Zhao, the second-generation inheritor, inherited his father's business and used thunder-fire moxibustion to treat diseases, which made him famous locally. Zhao, the third generation descendant, used thunder fire to treat intractable diseases and malice, and summed up his unique experience.
Zhao Shibi, a descendant of the fourth generation, improved and broke through the formula, usage, apparatus and disease treatment of Zhao's thunder-fire moxibustion, and wrote "China Thunder-fire Moxibustion Therapy", forming a complete set of Zhao's thunder-fire moxibustion therapy, which made Zhao's thunder-fire moxibustion develop unprecedentedly.
The fifth generation of descendants actively promoted Zhao's thunder-fire moxibustion and insisted on its clinical application, which achieved good results and promoted the inheritance of Zhao's thunder-fire moxibustion.
At present, Zhao's thunder moxibustion has been passed down to the seventh generation-Dr. Chen Xuanru from Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
