Because Zhu Yuanzhang is not a noble in the traditional sense, he made a lot of special efforts to make his rule reasonable after he took office. After learning about Zhu Yuanzhang's family, we can find that in the early years of the Yuan Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang's grandfather fled with his family in order to avoid the government's labor. Later, they also settled in Sunjiagang, 0/3 mile north of Gusizhou. At that time, when a Taoist priest passed by here, he also said that if he could be buried here, then the descendants of Zhujiajian would have a son of heaven. In this case, out of belief in geomantic omen, the Zhu family decided to use this place as their ancestral grave.
Zhu Yuanzhang's grandfather was buried here after his death, and Zhu Yuanzhang gradually became an excellent general in the uprising army from a farmer after his birth. In a.d. 1368, when Zhu Yuanzhang ascended the throne, his great-grandfather was Xuan Di, his great-grandfather was Emperor Heng, his grandfather was Emperor Yu and his father was Emperor Chun.
In Zhu Yuanzhang's view, he wanted to make the whole Zhujiajian have a high social status, so he also decided to rebuild the ancestral tomb. Under the influence of feudal thought, Zhu Yuanzhang realized that if Zhujiajian Island's ancestral grave could be rebuilt, the rule of the Ming Dynasty could be consolidated. So more than ten years after Zhu Yuanzhang came to power, he ordered Prince Zhu Biao to lead his ministers to start building the ancestral tombs. After 28 years of hard work, the Ming Zuling was finally built. Zhu Yuanzhang also spent a lot of money to rebuild the Ming Zuling.
According to historical records, the Ming Zuling is large in scale and imposing, and there are many exquisite buildings inside. Since the completion of the Ming Zuling, every year on Qingming Festival, Zhu Yuanzhang will lead the Guards here to worship their ancestors. However, because there are many rivers and lakes near the Ming Zuling, with the change of climate, the Ming Zuling is gradually submerged in Hongze Lake.
1680, an extraordinary flood broke out, which made the Ming Zuling completely sink to the bottom of Hongze Lake and became an underwater imperial tomb. It was not until 1963 that the Ming Zuling was rediscovered after the once-in-a-century drought in Hongze Lake area. So far, this underwater palace buried for nearly 300 years has also been presented to the world.
At that time, many stone statues in the Ming Zuling were exposed to water. After investigation by archaeologists, they were found to have very high historical value. In the further investigation of the Ming Zuling by experts, it is found that there are many exquisite buried cultural relics in the Ming Zuling. Although they have been buried underwater for hundreds of years, their interiors have not been damaged.
Although it is said that the Ming Zuling reappeared in front of the world after the outbreak of drought, if it is mined rashly, it is likely to destroy many cultural relics inside the Ming Zuling. In this case, the relevant departments of our country only repaired the surface of the Ming Zuling, but did not fully exploit it. Today, the Ming Zuling has become a 3A-level tourist attraction in China. After seeing the true face of Ming Zuling, many people are also amazed at its grandeur.
