Where did Yu's family originate?

In the beautiful and ancient Yuyuan Village in the south of the Yangtze River, most residents have the same ancient surname-Yu. Yu Garden is ancient because this village has a history of more than 500 years. Yu is ancient because its origin can be traced back at least 5,000 years ago to the era of the Yellow Emperor.

According to Records of Historical Records and Biography of Bian Que, there was a good doctor named Yu Yu in ancient times. He is the ancestor of the Yu family in China for thousands of years.

Yu Busheng, a descendant of Yu's family: In ancient times, there was a Hangzhou native named Yu. His father was an official in Songyang County next door to us and died. His son brought the coffin back to Hangzhou and passed by. As a result, he found a place to put the coffin in this place. He thought this place was very feng shui, so he buried his father here and also mourned here.

Like many ancient surnames, Yu was born in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River Basin. However, Yu moved south much earlier than other surnames. During the reign of Wu Zetian, Yu Wenjun, the ancestor of the Yu family, wrote to the emperor, saying that Wu Zetian was dominated by women, which violated the rule of female masculinity and heaven and earth could not tolerate it. Yu Wenjun's rhetoric angered the supercilious female emperor. So he was sent to Lingnan, a remote place. Yu's descendants also began to multiply and develop in the south.

The surname Yu in Taiwan Province Province was handed down from the southeast coast of the mainland. Although the number is small, there are descendants in most areas of Taiwan Province Province.

Shortly after Yu Nan moved, Yuyuan Village was built in the Southern Song Dynasty. Most of the village patterns and ancient buildings were handed down from the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.

Generally speaking, the whole village should be surrounded by water and backed by mountains. With this mountain, people usually sit facing south, so the light is very good.

In fact, the word "Yu" is a polyphonic word. According to Yuanhe's surname, another pronunciation of Yu is Qiu. In ancient times, Yu and Qiu were two different surnames. Yu's family originated from the northern imperial doctor, and Qiu's ancestral home was from the southern State of Wu. However, because it is close to autumn, it gradually merged into one and became Yu's. Yuyuan Village is located in the south of the Yangtze River, but the Yu family in the village is a descendant of the Yu family in the north.

Yu Busheng, a descendant of the Yu family: There are many ancient buildings preserved in this village, because it seems to be rich, especially in the Ming Dynasty. So now, the village has preserved more than 50 ancient buildings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, especially one ancestral temple, Yu's ancestral temple, which is relatively complete now. This Yu ancestral hall now covers an area of more than 3000 square meters, which is the only one in our nearby cities and counties.

Speaking of this Yu ancestral hall, they also have a poetic name, called "Liushuitang". "Living Water Hall" is named after the allusion of "high mountains and flowing water". During the Spring and Autumn Period, Yu Boya was good at playing drums. One night, Boya was playing the piano at the bow and found a young man secretly enjoying the piano on the shore. This young man is Zhong Ziqi. Every time Boya plays a song, he can accurately understand the time-sharing meaning. Since then, "high mountains and flowing water" has been used not only to describe beautiful music, but also to describe sincere friendship. The descendants of the Yu family all over the world took "running water" as the Tang name, which has been in use ever since.

In fact, it is more appropriate for me to use the nickname "Liushuitang" as the name of the hall. Because since ancient times, there have been many people surnamed Yu.

There were many literati in Ming and Qing Dynasties, among whom more than 30 were tribute students and 100 were scholars. It can be seen that this place has profound cultural heritage and advocates reading.

The Imperial Garden is outstanding, and the imperial examinations continue. According to Yu's Genealogy, there were 293 people in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, including Jinshi, Wujuren, Gong Shi and Scholar.

From a national point of view, Yu's ancestors who worked in the Hanlin Academy in history were Yu Shuzu in the Yuan Dynasty and Yu Yue in the Qing Dynasty. Yu's ancestors whose poetry and prose works have been preserved so far include Yu Haohe in Song Dynasty, Yu in Ming Dynasty and Yu Wanchun in Qing Dynasty. They have made indelible contributions to China's traditional literature.
