Chaoshan people usually ask experts to look at the geographical conditions such as living base and cemetery to choose for them, so the choice of house address is also called "fragrant land". When the two are relative, they are generally located with a "compass", that is, the twenty-four mountains in the compass plate, also known as "dividing gold".
Twenty-four mountains include A, Mao and B; Chen, Xun and Si; C, noon and d; No, Kun, Shen; Geng, You, Xin; Hey, fuck, and the sea; Ren, Zi, Gui; Ugly, gen, yin. Take an auspicious direction. The compass represents the east with "Mao" and the south with "noon"; "Unitary" stands for the West and "Zi" stands for the North.
It is best to choose the homestead in Chaoshan area, with running water on the left, roads on the right, ponds in front and hills behind, which is the best place surrounded by Qinglong, White Tiger, Suzaku and Xuanwu. Chaoshan people have a saying that "don't live in the north, and don't be buried in the grave in the north after death", which reflects the importance of choosing foundation.
Chaoshan people build houses, mostly based on the main hall of Long Mai, and generally do not go north or south or east or west. In addition, Chaoshan people should avoid facing ravines, deep valleys, avenues and rivers when building houses. If you can't avoid it, Chaoshan people will generally set up a Jieshi engraved with "Shi Gandang" or "Shi Gandang on Mount Tai" at the door to "ward off evil spirits".
