Hongta Mountain is located in Yuxi City in central Yunnan Province. The little-known ancient pagoda from the Yuan Dynasty on the mountain became world-famous because Yunnan Yuxi Cigarette Factory used it as the name of its cigarette brand, and Hongta Mountain has also enjoyed a long-standing reputation. The culture dates back to the Yuan Dynasty. The "Hongta Mountain" brand has a rich heritage. These three words come from the red pagoda on a hill in the east of Yuxi City. It was built in the Yuan Dynasty and originated from the hope of suppressing Feng Shui and exorcising evil spirits. For more than 600 years, people have used this place to pray for peace and well-being. 50 years ago, the Yuxi Cigarette Factory was founded at the foot of the mountain, and "Hongta Mountain" became famous all over the world. Nobility comes from the "Hometown of Clouds and Smoke". A good brand requires good raw materials. In 1953, New China held a national flue-cured tobacco work conference attended by internationally renowned tobacco experts in Xuchang, Henan. At the meeting, the quality of tobacco leaves from all over the country was evaluated. Yuxi flue-cured leaves ranked higher. "Yu Yan", which has long been famous all over the world, scored 8 points, reaching the highest score of 108 points, winning the crown of Chinese flue-cured tobacco. It erected a milestone in the history of Yunnan tobacco. Since then, Yuxi Tobacco has become famous far and wide, and it has earned the reputation of "the hometown of clouds and smoke". In 1957, the Yuxi tobacco leaf re-curing factory was completed and put into operation. In 1959, the "Hongtashan" trademark cigarettes came into being.
